As you read on you might think I am really bitter towards my species, but please continue reading as you will find later on that it is not bitterness. It is frustration. We could be great but don’t allow ourselves to be so.

The problem with humankind is we always think of ourselves as “special and superior beings” made in God’s image and other ridiculous ideas that any dominating species would come up with.

We think that because we are so special and intelligent we must have a special and amazing purpose in life that we have to work so hard to find. We obsess thinking that there is a perfect afterlife waiting for us, if we follow certain rules and a certain path. We believe we must serve a greater purpose than everything that surrounds us and that our reality is not right, what is right comes after we die. Call it heaven or illumination. We are superior to nature and our planet, or so we think.

We do not belong here, we don’t fit in. We end up destroying all that this planet gives us because we cannot understand the greatness of it. Our minds are so clouded by our pride and Ego that we dismiss this life. We do not value the beauty of this life and the perfection in which we were created.

We exploit and destroy, contaminate and abuse. Depleting ourselves and other beings of the bounty this world offers us (and by us I mean all living creatures).

We have become parasites. Since money was introduced to us we believe we are here to obtain it and spend it. We have become consuming machines with suggestive minds that are manipulated and controlled and that will do what they are told. Our lives are full of stuff and empty, so empty we find ourselves lost. We develop mental and physical illnesses and all kinds of imbalances.

We are lost, we don’t belong. We look for answers out there where the answers can never be proven or given, where answers are always vague and may sound smart but are insubstantial. There is never any proof of any of our “special” teachers and Gods where we are looking. We have disconnected ourselves from our origins and lost our true life purpose.

Our evolving minds.

Our brains have become our prison. Our inventions limit us and complicate our lives to the point where we can no longer see we lost our freedom. We lost touch with who we are and what really matters. We are too busy keeping up with consuming and the illusions we have created in our heads that we are not even able to connect with our own species.

It has been proven that we are social beings and require social connection and yet as years go by we grow farther and farther apart from each other, our children grow up alone and without the love and attention they require to develop properly.

We are told we are here to be fruitful and multiply and we are definitely multiplying to a sick degree, we are running out of resources but… we continue to multiply. Are we fruitful? What are we doing to our mother Earth? Are we nurturing it like it has nurtured us? Or are we abusing it? Are we thankful for what we have or do we always seek more?

It’s funny how we are even trying to “conquer” space. Imagine what can be expected of a species that destroys everything they have and goes looking for a new place to call home? We can’t get it right here? What makes us think we will somewhere else?

We call animals stupid, beasts. Have you seen how people behave around you? Do animals drink or use drugs? Do they murder and call it sport? Do they eat until they become so obese they cannot even move?

No other being in this planet needs to go to church to confess their sins and go back and do them all over again. No other being needs to go to the psychologist or talk to a priest or monk to figure out what is wrong with them.

Our obsession with happiness.

The reason why religions succeed and have followers is because they promise something wonderful for the follower. If you follow these rules you will have a better life. Sounds like a commercial; if you buy this product you will be beautiful or happy. It’s the way the human mind works. We want to be happy, and we have this obsession with happiness that keeps us from being truly happy.

To give you an example of a great purpose in life let’s look at a phenomenon you would think of as “insignificant” or even thoughtless or just driven by instinct: The Salmon Run. Every spring thousands of Salmon travel from the sea back to where their parents laid their eggs. Our studies and research cannot find out how these animals travel and know how to get back to the place where they were born. We call it “instinct” just a word we stamp on things we cannot explain and satisfy our ignorance so there is no curiosity left. The salmon go through the roughest conditions and all kinds of adversity and in the end when they are able to lay their eggs, they die. When you look at the whole cycle and what it brings to other animals and the planet you realize without these animals this planet would lose a lot. Salmon are just a piece that makes this planet a perfect place that works in harmony with all beings. Salmon feed thousands of species including trees and plants. Their death brings life and nurtures everything it touches. Can you not call that a purpose? Isn’t this important enough? Or interesting or even magical enough for you to take a look at where you live and wonder how all animals, insects and plants have a purpose but you don’t?

You find yourself an outcast, you decide it’s because you are superior there has to be something greater in store for you or something that doesn’t exist here. Are our minds becoming our worst enemy? Why does our life purpose have to be something we make up? Why can we not go back to the beginning and connect with where we come from as a species? After all we are just one more mammal species in this planet. Yes, we have “evolved” but how is this evolution helping us? Is it really helping us?

I have heard people say that “animals are stupid, that they live in fear and hunt and kill each other in a vicious cycle”. We as humans judge all species as inferior but don’t look at the perfection and the beauty in which they live. We destroy their habitats and hunt them for attacking us when we take away their food. We cause them to suffer, we harm them. Some humans even have fun while doing so. An animal has no malice when it attacks us; an animal only defends itself and its needs. An animal has no greed or cruelty when it attacks. An animal knows to survive and do what it must. A lion will never kill something it will not eat. These animals go through periods of starvation and will not dare hurt anyone of their own.

Balance.

When looking at past generations, tribes and communities that lived in harmony with their surroundings, people who used to hunt to eat and used to raise their families with their values and customs. Mothers would nurture and raise their children and these children would then become healthy and self-sufficient men and women who would then continue carrying the balance of their community.
