Those are google translate links. My blog name is spelled out phonetically in French and Korean respectively (both languages have the right vowel sounds and strict rules for how those vowel sounds should be spelled) (and I’ve studied both on duolingo).

Disregard how consonants are pronounced in those links. The letter “r” should be pronounced the way the way it is pronounced in Standard American English.

also like -- @jenroses​ I really didn't peg you as the kind of person to see a mom doing something fannish (putting actor Terry Crews on a card) and judge her for not using a photo of her baby-- like how dare a mom do something that's not about her baby? I just don't understand why you, one of the most fannish mom's I know, would leave a comment implying that a mom is stupid for doing something fun and fannish? It seems weird and cruel and out of character for you.

The baby’s cuter. Given a choice between a cute baby and literally any adult human, I would put a cute baby on my credit card every time.

Jesus. who the fuck did my throwaway comment hurt) Something you should probable know about me... I spent most of my adult life professionally and personally focused on babies. I have been certified as a childbirth educator and a birth doula. I worked for years on a midwifery publication. I spent the bulk of my free time between 1993 and 2007 doing things relating to parenting education and had three babies despite the fact that pregnancy pretty much destroyed me. I fucking adore babies.

For this week's Meta Monday, we're spotlighting Lierdumoa’s meta fanvid “How Much Is That Geisha In the Window?”. Made for the 2008 Vividcon, it's focused on Firefly's orientalism and glorification of the Confederate States of America.

The vid is notable for being one of Rebecca Tushnet's examples in the US Copyright Office's DMCA hearings about the fair use of ripping material from DVDs. The Fanlore article was featured on our homepage in 2021.
