2. hinata idk why but the kid screams this to me, like he’s done it all his life and no one said anything bc yk that’s just hinata! but he definitely does this

Ayato: Tch defender of man my ass! No one is better than yours truly, period!

Shuu: Is that so? Perhaps you could ‘help’ me out … heh lewd woman

Shin: Heheh you’re hardly anything special although … it’s got a nice ring to it.

Kino: It’s alright,  I’m kind of neutral about this whole ‘defender of man’ thing

“Are you sure you don’t want me to help you with that?”

You huffed, using your boot heel to stomp the stake into the ground. “I’ve got it!”

Satisfied when it stayed in the stiff dirt, you backed up, looking at the small tent you had put up by yourself in a flat space between trees. You heard Zero drop an armful of kindling in a pile next to the fire pit he had dug up, clapping his hands free of debris. He moved to stand next to you and wrapped a hand around your waist, brushing a kiss on the top of your head.

“You did a great job, hun.”

“Just pray it doesn’t collapse on us in the middle of the night,” you laughed, giving him a quick return squeeze before stepping forward to crawl inside. “So far, so good. Want to pass me the sleeping bags?”

“Here you are,” he said, tossing them through the opening.

You pulled the elastics loose, spreading the thick sleeping bags out. They fit perfectly in the small two-person tent and you felt silly for how happy it made you.

There was a clipping sound and the tent trembled. You let out an unintentional yelp and frowned at Zero’s chuckles as he finished taking off the tent cover, leaving the mesh top open to the sky through the treetops. He had mentioned earlier that it would be a clear night, so you weren’t worried about being rained on, but that didn’t prevent you from getting upset by his light teasing. He smiled at you through the mesh, waving his fingers before folding the large sheet into a small bundle under his arm.

“That wasn’t funny,” you grumbled, but his smile only widened. “Come in here.”

“You’re not looking to get back at me, are you?”

“Are you brave enough to find out?”

Zero moved around to the front of the tent, dropping the cover off to the side and bending over to peek inside. You sat up and reached out to grab the front of his shirt, pulling him in. He let out a surprised grunt as he flopped both onto you and one of the sleeping bags, the thick fabric and your body cushioning his fall.

“Sorry, sorry,” he said, trying to get off you.

You held onto him tighter, keeping him in place and lifting your head to press a kiss to his lips. His eyes fluttered for a second before he forced himself off, rearranging himself so he was laying on his side next to you.

“You think you’re so sneaky,” he said, the inflection too soft to have any kind of bite to it. You only grinned at him, throwing a leg over his hip and an arm around his shoulder. He sighed, but a smile rose to his lips as he pressed closer to you, brushing a kiss over your mouth and along your cheek. “I suppose we can stay like this for a minute before I get the fire going for dinner.”

You nodded, pressing a hand to the back of his neck, bringing him in to give him long and affectionate kisses.
