This morning when you left the house, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and you could feel a warm breeze on the air. For all intents and purposes, it was a perfect summer day.

But, the universe had other ideas

Two hours into your planned day of errands, you feel a single raindrop wet your cheek.You brush it off with a gentle sweep of your hand, dismissing it as a fluke, and continue walking down the path of the outdoor mall, taking in the colorful storefronts and shops around you. 

But a few minutes later that first drop was followed by another, and then another until the sound of rain hitting the ground around you began to fill your ears

karaoke bar with bokuto + akaashi + lexee + kayla 

- ok so it’s already been established that i believe bokuto LOVES karaoke bars 

- mans does not even need the “bar” part, he just loves karaoke 

- he sings like he’s 3 drinks in but really he’s just having the time of his life 

- bokuto definitely tries to sing songs like Hey Ya! by Outkast and Gangster’s Paradise by Coolio 

- not even in a joking way like he tries REALLY HARD to do them well 

- he kinda succeeds just bc karaoke is one of those things where people can pull things off better if they try than if they half ass something? 

- he’s also a big DANCER, like this man is dancing and jumping around while he sings, pointing at people and trying to pull people up to dance with him while he’s singing 

- also the type to hold the mic in someone’s face for a major part of the song and waggle his eyebrows at them to try and make them finish the line

- he’s ALSO the type to convince someone to sing duets with him 

- he and i sing don’t go breaking my heart by elton john and get WAY too into it 

- i point at lexee half the time and bokuto spends the majority of it trying to get akaashi to sing just one line but our pretty setter boy is still refusing 

- OK AKAASHI on the other hand is the type to wait until everyone is either a) exhausted or b) drunk before even looking at the songlist 

- he grabs the mic from bokuto’s limp hand (now half asleep from jumping around and singing his heart out for 2 straight hours) 

- lemme tell you,,, 

- this man has the most beautiful voice 

- it’s low but not too deep, a little rough but still really clear 

- he picks something like,,, lady in red by chris de burgh (all my karaoke song pics are OLD bc we always had those ones that only have old music growing up,, i know so many 70s/80s songs from karaoke) 

- he sings softly at first but builds up to it 

- lemme tell you,,, he is BEAUTIFUL 

- lit up by the colorful lights this man just swaying and singing away at this ballad and absolutely KILLING IT 

- lexee i know you be awake for this and he just turns around, sees you, and smiles before continuing to sing while looking at you 🥺 

- me n bo are 100% asleep 

- so you have this really sweet and intimate moment as he sings 

“I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight I've never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing” 

while looking at you 

- he finishes his song & comes over to sit next to you as the two of you debate whether to wake me & bo up or take pictures of us looking dumb as hell 

- you decide to take the pictures and THEN wake us up with a rousing rendition of bodies by drowning pool 

- i about lose it and accidentally punch bo in the face while waking up 

- we leave and decide to come back the next week (maybe bringing kags & oikawa next time hehe) 

OK sorry this took so long but i hope you enjoyed this bc it was so fun to write ahjdka makes me wanna go back & read my akaashi karaoke bar drabble,,, for reasons,,,,

When Life Gives You Lemons

*Knock Knock Knock*

Kageyama shot up in bed, startled by the banging outside his door. He looked at the clock. 3:57 pm.

“Lexee” he whispered, gently pressing on the shoulder of the girl asleep next to him. “Bokuto is here. Our nap went on too long.” Lexee rolled over to face him, “5 more minutes pleeeease.”

“No, Lex, we don’t have much time until Kayla gets off of work.” Lexee smiled at the black haired setter with her eyes closed, half asleep, and responded by pulling the blanket back over her face.

*Knock Knock Knock*

Kageyama decided to give up and go answer the door. He opened it to find Bokuto holding a huge bag of lemons.

“Hey hey hey Kageyama!” “Hello Bokuto,” he responded, grabbing the bag from the ace’s large hands.

“Thanks for helping me make these lemon bars for Kayla! I think she’s going to love them....where’s Lexee though? Doesn’t she know how to bake?”, Bokuto asked.

“She’s still asleep...I didn’t want to wake her... but to be honest I don’t know what to do....maybe I should try to wake her-“ Kageyama started, trying to decide what the best option was.

Bokuto cut him off to provide an answer, “No worries, man, we’ve got this! She can sleep! We’ve only got, like, an hour before Kayla gets here so we should just get started!”

Kageyama nodded in agreement, but responded “I don’t know how to make lemon bars. I’ve never even had them.”

“Honestly? Me neither. It seems pretty simple though!” Bokuto proudly stated.

“Right. Do you have the recipe?” “Nah!” “Oh. Do you want me to look one up?” “Nah, dude, look- I’ve got a picture right here. They look super easy to make!” Bokuto pulled up a picture from his camera roll of a tray full of lemon bars. Kageyama looked at the picture and back up to Bokuto before nodding hesitantly.

“Alright so!” Bokuto began, “To start, you are going to peel the lemons. Then I’m going to mash them with this-“ he continued, pulling out a hammer from his bag. Kageyama’s eyes widened a little, but he trusts Bokuto so he just continued to nod.

Kageyama started to peel the lemons. He was surprisingly good at it, peeling them with ease thanks to his skilled setter fingers (heh). Once he peeled the first two, he passed them off to Bokuto.

“LET’S GOOOO!!!” Bokuto yelled as he took the hammer and began furiously pounding the lemons, causing lemon juice to spray everywhere. “I foresaw this happening...” he said in a serious tone, before reaching back into his bag and pulling out two of the three pairs of goggles he brought. Once he and Kageyama put on the goggles, Bokuto continued to hammer the lemons as Kageyama went back to peeling. Once they finished this process with 12 lemons, Bokuto pulled out a tray.

“Okay so now you gotta help me put the lemon mush on here and shape it.” Bokuto instructed Kageyama, who nodded. The duo did their best to form the mashed lemons into a rectangle, fitting the tray. Finishing this step got Bokuto excited. “Dude we’re almost done! See, we didn’t need to wake up Lexee! Kayla’s gonna love these! I’ll take it from here”

Bokuto pulled out a bag of powdered sugar. Ah yes, the final step. He poured the bag on top of the lemon mush - trying to sprinkle it - however it ended up being more like piles of powdered sugar. He dusted his hands off with a proud smile on his face. “Done!” he beamed.

On cue, Lexee walked out of her room and joined Kageyama’s side. The two boys were ready to see how impressed she was that they pulled that off while she was still asleep. They were both puzzled by the look on her face, but assumed it was just amazement at their skill.

“What is this?” she asked.

“They’re the lemon bars we were all supposed to make for Kayla before she got home...to celebrate her first week back at work! We figured we shouldn’t wake you up and just LOOK at how good we did on our own!” Bokuto stated smugly. “I’m the best boyfriend ever,” he continued, before looking at Kageyama and placing his big hand on his shoulder and shrugging, “Sorry.”

Lexee was at a loss for words, but in her mind she was thinking of ways to fix this mess. She looked at the clock. Okay we might still have 15 minutes until she gets here maybe we have enough time to-

Her train of thought was interrupted by a knock at the door. Naturally, Bokuto eagerly ran (sprinted, practically teleported, etc.) towards the door, beyond excited to see his girlfriend. “Bokuto, wait!” Lexee shouted after him. Too late.

Bokuto opened the door to a pleasantly surprised Kayla who had been expecting only to see Lexee at the apartment. “THERE SHE IS!!!” He shouted, pulling her into a tight hug.

“Wow, you guys are so sweet for meeting up to see me!” Kayla said, smiling at her boyfriend and two friends. Bokuto got a prideful grin on his face. “OH HO HO, SPEAKING OF SWEET!” he began, gently grabbing her hand to lead her to the table Lexee and Kageyama were standing at. He gestured smugly at the tray of “”lemon bars””.

“Oh,” Kayla smiled sweetly through her confusion. “What...is that?” she asked, looking between her boyfriend and friends.

“I asked the same thing!” Lexee smiled back at her.

“....They’re lemon bars..your favorite!!!” Bokuto stated as if it was obvious.

Kayla and Lexee looked at each other and burst out laughing. Bokuto and Kageyama met each other’s eyes in mutual confusion until Bo eventually gave in and turned the mild chaos into a big group hug between the four. ♡
