“This is disgusting.”

Cath’s dad had just left for a run to the store, leaving her and Levi in the house with Wren upstairs, talking to Courtney on the phone. Levi had nearly convinced Cath to make eggs for him, but Cath had pulled an all-nighter the night before to write more fanfiction and she didn’t exactly feel like making anything even minorly complicated. So she’d dug around in the cabinets and found Gravioli instead.

Levi clearly was not a big fan of it.

Cath giggled at the way he scrunched up his nose and grimaced. It was adorable.

“How can you stand this stuff?” he questioned, almost indignantly as if the canned science experiment offended him. “This tastes like dog food–and trust me, I know what dog food tastes like. I was a stupid toddler on a ranch.”

Cath laughed. “Once you get past the gag reflex,” she giggled, “it isn’t actually that bad. And like I said before: it’s soft. I don’t have to chew it.”

Levi despondently took another bite. “Lazy,” he muttered.

"Says the guy who exploits me for homework.”

He raised an eyebrow and grinned widely at her. “Now that’s just not fair. You actually willingly help me when I need it. In this case, you literally cannot find the motivation to move your jaw up and down.”

Cath smirked at him and shook her head. Levi bent back his spoon (it was plastic; Art had forgotten to do the dishes again) and flicked gravy at Cath. She yelped and glared at him, gravy dripping down her glasses. He simply gave her that wide, heart-stopping smile that was far too contagious.

She really wanted to kiss him.

Instead she threw an apple slice at him.

A few minutes later, Wren came down the stairs to find her twin and her twin’s boyfriend in the middle of a food fight, staring up at her in mortification. Wren blinked and shook her head.
