At some point, Tommy gets kidnapped. 

Maybe it’s a mark, who caught on and grabbed the scrawniest one he saw, which, to be fair, Tommy might be tall but he is scrawny and ultimately a hacker. 

Maybe it’s an old enemy of Tommy’s. 

Maybe Tommy just has shitty, shitty luck and gets kidnapped by someone who has no idea who he is but still manages to ruin/destroy all his tech so no one can track him and he can’t hack anything.

Regardless, Tommy is kidnapped and SBI is freaking out because it takes them several hours to realize he is gone and they have no idea where he went. 

Unfortunately, none of them are particularly good with technology and Tommy has encrypted everything to hell and back so none of them can even really get into his stuff. *

Phil remembers Tommy saying that Sam taught him lots of things about Technology, so he immediately goes over there to retrieve Sam, consequences, and father figure fight be damned. 

Sam, of course, has no idea anything is wrong until Phil is standing on his doorstep, looking more than a little panicked. 

Phil pretty much just says that Tommy is in trouble and that they need Sam’s help, and doesn’t explain much, Sam and Phil argue a bit, but when they arrive Tubbo snaps and tells them all to shut up bc it’s for Tommy. 

Unfortunately, Sam can’t get into Tommy’s systems because it’s far beyond his own abilities since he only knows regular person coding. At this point he steps out, trying to process that Tommy is missing (he still doesn’t exactly know that SBI are criminals) and calls Puffy to tell her. 

Puffy immediately asks to speak to Phil and offers to call Dream (and therefore Quackity) to help them out. 

Phil of course accepts, and essentially all these criminals are working together to save Tommy. 

Eventually, Quackity locates him, and Sam demands to go with them, and eventually, they relent but tell him to stay in the car. Wilbur and Tubbo stay behind in case he needs medical treatment. 

Sam watched Techno and Phil just… annihilate men. 

Tommy is like, mostly fine. 

Honestly, he’s doing better than everyone else tbh because he was sure that someone would come for him or he’d get out. He’s only a little dehydrated and has some minor injuries. 

(or if I’m feeling angsty, Tommy is badly injured and delirious, and is happy to see both Sam and Phil, calling Phil Dadza and Sam Dad.  Him just, accepting the affection for once, with menial protests since he’d only half-conscious, and the whole crew just hovering) 

Sam, over the course of all this, figures out something definitely illegal is going on, but also, when he sees the fear in all their eyes on Tommy’s behalf he accepts that they might be good for Tommy. 

Ask and Ye shall receive. Leverage AU titbits one (1) person asked for. 

Phil turned to crime after he got disillusioned with the justice system not actually providing justice. The longer he was in the system, the more he found himself hating it and himself. Eventually his wife got killed because of a case and his people did nothing to protect her, so he ended up quitting his job.

Wilbur lied about his age to Phil, so Phil thinks that he is 28, when in reality he is 24. No one knows that he isn’t 28.

Wilbur is also the alcoholic in this AU, not Phil. Phil just has to come to terms with caring for people again.

Tommy also lied about his age, saying that he was 22. No one believes him and Phil knows that the kid is at best 18. Tommy is eighteen in this AU, but barely.

Tubbo didn’t bother lying about his age, mostly because he isn’t even sure how old he is himself.

Technoblade literally lies to everyone about his age. He told Tommy he was 32, he told Tubbo he was 38, he told Wilbur he was 29, and Phil he was 30. Technoblade is actually 27, and just doesn’t want to admit that Wilbur is older than him. He also lied about his age when he enlisted.

You know how in leverage there is a second crew that they go against on one occasion, then team up with later? Yeah, here is my cast for that.

Mastermind: Dream. I mean really, was there any other choice for that? Grifter: George. No, I will not be taking questions at this time. Hacker: Quackity. The idea of him and Tommy having, essentially, a hack off? Can’t be beat. Hitter: Sapnap. Tell me I’m wrong. I’m not. You simply can’t. Thief: Karl. Karl is absolutely a thief, and t you can’t change my mind.

Jack Manifold works in the brewpub and is CONVINCED that the crew are murders or part of the mafia or something. A running gag is him trying to catch them doing illegal stuff and it’s jsut them,,, being wholesome or doing normal stuff OR him just missing something incredibly illegal. Tommy and Techno realize and think it’s funny, the others just haven’t noticed.

Technoblade is still a chef in this AU. Niki is somewhat  like Peggy in this, and Tubbo got her a job at the Brewpub beacsue he loved her baking and she makes all the deserts.

Techno is the criminal that Phil chased the longest, even before Techno moved into more white-collar crimes like “retrieval Specialist” Phil was often sent after him, due to Phil’s own past in special ops before transitioning to insurance fraud. Phil refuses to fight if he can avoid it, and isn’t nearly as good as Technoblade, but if it comes to it, he can hold his own better than most would expect. 

Technoblade hates guns, and prefers to use his fists or knives. Tommy used to make fun of him for being ineffective, but after he watched Techno take down someone using literally a pocket knife, Tommy backed off. 

Wilbur moonlights as a musician and has desperately wanted to get famous for his music, but now he can’t because of his criminal history. Now he mainly just plays in small venues in Portalnd or nearby cities. 

Tubbo has like,,, four separate safe houses. Each member of the team knows about one of them and they all think they know about the one. Tommy knows there are other because Tubbo asked him to help set up security at them and Tommy was sworn to secrecy. 

Tubbo’s parents fostered Tommy from the time Tommy was about four until he was seven. They weren’t exactly great parents, and Tubbo ran away. Tommy did too, but they got separated,and Tommy was removed from the home. It took them about two months to get along well enough to realize who the other actually was, and once they did they became inseparable. 

No one is sure if Dream and George are dating or if they are just,,, like that. Sapnap swears that there is no way in hell that they are dating, but Quackity swears he walked in on them about to make out once, so no one is 100% sure. (They aren’t, but they’re just Like That and are a little bit co-dependant) 

Sapnap couldn’t stand Quackity at first and literally threatened to break his hans on more than one occasion. 

Sapnap, Dream, and George were a crew for a few years and they worked under Bad and Skeppy, who have both now retired and just vibe on an island that they own and offer advice when needed. 

Bad and Skeppy did raise Sapnap, as much as they really had time to. They weren’t good parents, but in their defence they weren’t really trying to be parents. the kid just showed up after attempting to pickpocket Skeppy and Bad didn’t have the heart to let Skeppy turn him away  So they got a ten year old. 

Puffy was Dream’s mentor and is now also retired. She was mainly a grifter but doesn’t really run big cons anymore. She set up a psychic shop in Portland accidentally very close to where the SBI crew is and by extent Sam. She becomes very good friends with Sam, and lets him talk about the foster son he is trying to reconnect with while slowly realizing that he is talking about TommyInnit, one of the biggest names in hacking and a member of the SBI crew. 

She has no idea how to go about telling him that in a way that won’t result in him calling the cops, so she just has to watch him duke it out with Philza over Tommy. 

Somehow she becomes the occasional mediator. 

Puffy is also really good friends with Bad and visits his island on a regular basis when she is done with everyone’s shit. 

Eret is a musician that Wilbur considers to be his rival. Eret just likes to play and desperately wants to get famous for their music. 

Karl really likes physical contact, but has like, 0 sense of what is appropriate personal space, so he usually avoids touch. However, around the others, especially Sapnap and Quackity, he practically just hangs off of them because they don’t care that he does it.

Karl has memory problems due to a nasty fall he took once when he was younger. He can mostly remember things, but lots of his past, from about 15 back is just a blur. He occasionally forgets other things, and worries that one day he won’t be able to do what he loves. 

Quackity send money to his parents on a regular basis from different untraceable off shore accounts.
