All while I am

still collecting coins

Parker and Ezekiel were in a robbery, working together. The loot was the Spanish coins of an old sunken ship. They had been recovered recently and it value was millions.

The security was high but ridiculous before the joint skills of both thieves.

In record time the two were already in the trunk of the coins.

-Jackpot-Parker murmured as he began to trade the real coins for fake ones that Hardison had got them.

-Ezekiel?-The thief asked, seeing that her friend was motionless.-Ezekiel!

Parker's scream barely knocked Jones out of his flash back. With a somewhat lost look, he turned to look at the blonde. She had an expression of tremendous concern for the thief.

Then the alarms began to sound, which alerted both.

In a tactical agreement, the two tensed their ropes on their frames and fled

-What happened?-Parker asked, when they were safe.

-It was like a video game. We were collecting coins like in a video game.

Parker looked at him, fixedly.

-If you still don't feel ready to steal again ...

- But with the money of these coins several hospitals could be opened!

-I know. I know that that matters to you. That's why I'll steal them for you. Take a break while the best thief in the world gets it

-The best female thief-joked Ezekiel, as always

-Please. We both know who is the best, Me-Parker followed thwe joke

Ezekiel looked at Eve.

Eve stared back at him, firmly.

Ezekiel huffed and dropped his head so that it hit the table. The nightmares had subsided but they had been replaced by the guilt of not telling the Librarians what was wrong. That he remembered everything. And all his Leverage companions knew it. Including the other presence in the room. Tara Cole.

-If you hate so much to hide your team that you remember, why...I don't know...do you say them?

-It's not that easy.

-Why not?

-Because everyone knows me as a carefree thief. I don't want to break that illusion just so they care about me.

-That's silly. From what you've told me, they saw the serious side of Ezekiel Jones. And they are your friends, of course they care. And more now that they don't know if you remember or not. Just say it. Open up a little.

Jenkins said nothing. He just raise his eyebrow, without believing it.

Ezekiel, who was sitting in a chair but seemed like he was about to jump off a cliff, said:

-Maybe a little pause would go well. And some tea

Jenkins nodded approvingly and left the tea in front of Ezekiel. He took a sip. And, almost immediately, he felt calmer.

-If you want, you can join me at tea time every day, Mr. Jones. It's at 6.

Ezekiel took another sip, considering it.

It's been like...year and a quarter that I don't been in these fandoms. Sorry.

When I published the last fic "Cassandra...and the Aftermath of the Video Game" I wanted to continue. But I couldn't access to a computer in a month and by then I had moved to other fandoms. And it was hard for me to write about these two. But the fact that I never finished "The Aftermath of the Video Game: Game Over" haunted me and made me feel guilty. So in this year I've been writing here and there little things. And in these last days I have returned with strength. This saga is already written it and I will publish it as fast as I can.

Eliot and Ezekiel were drinking at the bar. The two had a beer in front of them and the conversation was becoming somewhat private and intimate.

- Have you ever felt lost? Like...-Ezekiel made a circular gesture, turning his wrist-You don't know how you've finished where you are. Like...me? A Librarian? A kind of hero that fights against evil?

Eliot looked at him

-Yes I understand. I have also fought against the bad guys. But how do I do it with Leverage? Never. It doesn't feel the same...

- ...satisfaction

-That.

-But sometimes, when I think of the videogame ... I wish I could be better, understand?

-Ezekiel, you're the best. The best thief of the Librarians. And that is what you should do. Because each of us fight against evil in our own way. And that's the best we can do.

-You're right. Cheers for that.

Trying hard to save the girl

Some of Ezekiel's recurring nightmares of the video game are about Cassandra.

They are from when he still didn't know that he was trapped in a video game and they tried to reach the doors.

Sometimes it's about Cassandra screaming with fear at her his side, the sound echoing all over the place, only silenced by death. When the restart returns and Ezekiel goes out the door he can still feel the scream, embedded in the deepest part of his being.

In other nightmares, it’s the same situation, only this time he tries to save her.He tries everything he can think of. Flee in another direction, distract the attackers, protect her with his body, even hit the attackers.

But he is not Eliot or Eve and the doors are a trap from the video game.

He fails.

Ezekiel is the first to die but the scream keeps resounding.

There are times when Ezekiel doesn't know if it was real or imaginary.

Even now, when the game is over, Ezekiel swears he can hear it clearly.

In those moments Cassandra looks at him sadly, he smiles falsely.

Don't convince her.

She approaches, he looks at her with anticipation, she kisses him on the forehead with love.

Something she didn't do during the video game.

Something different.

Something real.

Something present.

The kiss of the girl that he finally could to save.
