Leucogranitic dyke in Himalaya
“Leuco”-granite meaning white coloured granite, is a rock composed predominately of feldspar and quartz from which the light colour comes from. What is special about this rock is that it is quite young (~24-14 million years old) compared to surrounding rocks and it formed after the India-Eurasia collision. The rocks like this one, form when continental crust is over-thickened, for example, during the continent-continent collision, and as a result crust melts underneath the mountains.
