Letters from No One by scribblerian
tmi tuesday: what's the fic that you feel the most invested in/the most personally connected to?
okay i'm so sorry i got busy and totally forgot about this in my drafts.
Random Ask
I try to love all my fics. Especially the ones that are written poorly. They're still part of me and my art. But we do all have that one fic we love a little more than the rest. A favorite child.
Without a doubt mine would be The Magic of Ordinary Days. I started it last year on a whim, but I had wanted to write it years ago, I just wasn't in the right headspace for it. Nor would it have been the quality that I am capable of now. But now... now is the right time for me to take on this project now that I have an even better feel on the characters as well. It's even my first real attempt at writing Everlark (even if they're a side pairing) and I'm feeling more confident as I explore them.
There isn't any of my own personal experiences in this story, but I have put my heart into it. This fic is probably my favorite thing I've written all by myself. I've written collaborative fics and RP with my besties, but this is something I've dreamed of writing, planned, waited, and finally can execute! I love this fic so much so I often fret over posting each chapter because I feel this story deserves my best. I love these characters and their story and watching them fall in love (for like the zillionth time in my head).
It may seem like I have been neglecting the fic, but Hamish & Ruby's story is far from over. It's always on my mind, plotting, and either editing or working on chapters out of order. And I have plenty of chapters planned out that haven't been touched.
This fic just means so much to me and I'm glad I can share it with others. Thank you so much for asking!
WIP asks: ❤️ 💗 💟
hey! thanks for asking. since no fic is specified, i'm going with my favorite, ✨️The Magic of Ordinary Days✨️
❤️: what’s the working title?
I tend to 'borrow' titles from books, movies, or a lot of Taylor Swift songs. One of my favorite books is The Magic of Ordinary Days. Well, I fully intended on just making an AU of it for my rare pair, but it sort of did it's own thing. I am NOT good with titles. And I don't feel like I can write anything if I don't know what to call it. It's like having a baby and not naming it... the baby needs a name!!
This might have been the easiest fic to title because I have wanted to write this for years and it was going to be based on the book, but you know you gotta be in the right mood/mindset to make it happen. I don't regret waiting. I think if I had written it when I originally wanted to, it would have been a mistake. This is the right time to take on this project.
💗: what genre is it in?
Right now, it's historical/romance AU. It's my way of adding my favorite trope of 'marriage of convenience'. 😉 I love history, it's always been a passion of mine. Magic is set in the pre-WWII days where you feel the looming threat of oncoming war, but Ruby and Hamish lived through WWI (totally different situations) as well and the town has never really recovered from it.
As well as Depression era vibes, era bias, and all the goodies of things forbidden. That's the fun about writing historical so much is forbidden and taboo. I like to have fun with it.
💟: how is your style different in this work compared to previous ones? has it more shifted for the story or just developed in general?
Ohh! Interesting... let's see. I am writing this totally from third person narrative, which I haven't done in almost a decade. But I didn't think it would work in first person narrative. I think with each project I begin, it challenges me in a new way, and strengthens my technique. Writing, like most art, is something that can never be perfected. We're always striving and challenging ourselves and that's pretty cool. I really hope in TMOOD that my technique has gotten better.

Let
the image of me
fill up the vacancies
of your mind
and ignite
the dregs
of your fantasies.
As I steal
your innocence
tonight.
Countless are the times
we will face uncertainty,
but so are the stars.
6am on the 7th
Early sun rising,
he waits
with bated breath.
Gilded birds singing,
she stirs
from sleepy depths.
