No this isnât another story of mine. Â This is a legit discussion that I hope maybe folks can share headcanons with or ideas.
Itâs all about communication in the Fallout universe. Â Did they have internet? Â Like, could they truly send emails across country or within the communities? Â Lots of thoughts here, but Iâd like to share some of mine and then open it up for a FRIENDLY discussion. Â
First off, I think there is some sort of networking that expands outside of the local areas. Â In all the terminals you hack or simply read in any of the games thereâs always something hinting towards things expanding further than you might think. Â Think about the invoices in all the factories you go in. Â I donât think theyâre getting stuff from across the street. Â They are talking to other people about items they purchased and are waiting on or shipping back. Â
I know thereâs obviously intranet as a lot terminals in Vaults have people sending notes back and forth to each other. Â This is a given and Iâm sure everyone can at least agree on that.Â
Given the situation with the way things are, it might be doubtful that servers are still online for actual country wide communication. Â Communication is still carried out internally from what I am gathering. Â I know ham radios and walkie-talkies are still used. Â
So, how would people communicate further?  Do people in the Commonwealth have any clue about people in New Vegas?  Do people in New Vegas know about DC?  ((Iâm not worried about whatâs in between because Iâm sure we can all headcanon that âtil the day the cows come home))
Remember, just because itâs not shown or mentioned in the game doesnât mean itâs not possible or doesnât exist.  Games have serious limitations obviously.  Stay within the structure, however.  Obviously if things in the Fallout universe were like our late 50s and early 60s there canât be wifi or cell phones. What are your thoughts and ideas about internet?  Iâd love to see intelligent theories.  Iâd love to see thoughts and things supporting your idea.  Just saying ânoâ or âyeahâ isnât supporting anything.  This could be fun and interesting and maybe a big help for other people pondering the same thing.
Iâm also going to direct this at @fallout-4-fever because you always seem to ponder awesome things and come up with good ideas. Â Your thoughts?Â
