Buck is initially jealous and resentful because Lena temporarily takes his spot in the Firefam and as Eddie’s closest friend, but he eventually warms up to her because she’s actually a really loyal, giving friend and a badass firefighter who loves her team just as much as he loves his. And of course, they bond over their friendship with Eddie.

Lena finds out about Buck’s obvious crush and reassures him that no she has no romantic interest in Eddie. When Buck gets offended and demands to know why because “Eddie’s a catch!”, she laughs in his face and tells him she’s gay and “It sounds like you might be too.”

Lena tells Buck all about how upset Eddie was not to see him during the lawsuit and how much Eddie talks about him when he’s not around. Buck teases Eddie about it and Eddie fumbles for excuses and protests because he doesn’t talk about Buck that much (Lena very much disagrees).

Eddie and Ana date and Buck is crushed. Lena sympathizes but tries to remain supportive towards both of her friends. But then Eddie introduces Buck and Lena to Ana (because they’re his two best friends) and Lena has an immediate “oh no, she’s hot” reaction. So now Buck is pining over Eddie and Lena is pining over Ana and it’s a mess. They get drunk and vent to each other about it.

Buck and Lena relentless teasing each other, especially once Eddie and Ana break up: “Ugh, you two are nauseating. When are you finally going to ask him out?” “When are you finally going to ask her out?” “Okay, touché.”

Buck and Lena harmlessly threatening each other because they know too much: “Guests do the dishes, house rules.” “You’re a guest too, you should help.” “Nice try but I’m not actually a guest, this is Eddie’s.” “If you don’t help me do the dishes, I’m telling him about your big fat crush on him.” “...fine.”

Eddie not-so-subtly asks Lena if there’s anything going on between her and Buck, and Lena just goes, “Oh my god, not this again.” When he asks what that’s supposed to mean, she tells him to man up and just ask Buck out already, for the love of god, Eddie!

And this moment when he finally takes her advice:
