I think my problem with ships is that I always read too much between the linesāthings that might not even be there. Like, I hear "Are you okay?" and immediately interpret it as "I love you" or "I can't live without you." Thatās why I end up shipping couples that don't actually exist. And thatās why Iām so attached to *this* shipābecause they say things like that at least once every episode. My mind just runs wild!
I really need to stop seeing "shipping" in everything I see on television... šš

Itās really interesting that my two main "ships" right now consist of a captain and a scientific genius. But, as I said, they share a lot of similarities: friendship, loyalty, and mutual concern. Itās practically the same dynamic. The difference is that in *Star Trek*, the scientific genius is subordinate to the captain, whereas in *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea*, the scientific genius outranks the captain. Otherwise, though, I find them exactly alike. My logic was: if I ship one pair, I have to ship the other too.
Iāve come to a conclusion. I know I tend to go overboard and dream up pairings that don't actually exist. But, most of the time, the writers are to blame. I mean, who comes up with a series where every single regular character is a man? Why did you have to be so sexist? A woman might show up once in a blue moon, but thatās itāshe never returns. In the final season, not a single woman appeared, not even for a guest spot. So, if there are no women around, who do you expect me to pair the guys up withāthe submarine? Itās impossible for me to watch 110 episodes of a series without rooting for a couple. Iām sorry, but you forced me to ship them.
At least in *Star Trek*, there were women on board; even though no relationship came close to "Spirk," you could at least argue that Jim was a ladies' man who was only into women. In *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea*, there wasn't a single hint of a relationship between the main characters and women. So, forgive me if I got confused. Don't blame meāblame the writers and the producer.

If I earned 1 real (my country's currency) for every time I shipped a Captain with a science genius capable of sacrificing their own life to save his ship, I'd have 2 reais, which isn't much, but it's a coincidence that it happened twice.
I really wish I knew how to make edits. But I'm too dumb to do it. It's just that my ship is so obscure that there's nothing about them. I had even thought about the song. A wonderful one that was used in a Spirk edit and it would also suit them. I miss seeing material about them on websites. Very sad.
A post no one will read. But Iām going to say it anyway because this is the only place I can. No one in real life would want to hear me talk about a "ship" from a show that aired 60 years ago. Iāve always said that what captivated me about *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea* was the relationship between the Admiral and the Captain. The two of them were always looking out for each other, protecting one another, and worrying about each other. If I were to talk about every single scene, this post would go on forever. But I wanted to talk about a few random scenes that, if they aired today, would spark a lot of commentary.
1- In the *Flying Dutchman* episode, when the submarine is under attack by the ghost ship and the control room is on fire, the two of them simply run off to the Admiralās cabin to have a chat. Didn't they have other priorities at that moment?
2- The Admiral and two others get lost on an island that causes hallucinations. One of the men starts seeing pirate treasure, and by the end of the episode, the Admiral explains that it might have been something from the man's subconscious. The thing is, the Admiral has a hallucination involving the Captain. So, Admiralāis the Captain in your subconscious?
3- This is the one that really blew my mind. The Captain turns into a beast-man due to a botched experiment. They spend part of the episode trying to cure him but fail. In the final scene, they capture him, and the Admiral decides to take him down to the ocean floor in the diving bell. The Captain is currently in beast form and asleep, but when he takes the antidote, he begins to transform backāslowly. And thatās the moment that gets me: the way the Admiral looks at him. Theyāre in a dark, enclosed space, and thereās this very slow, romantic-sounding music playing in the background. For a moment, you get the impression theyāre about to kiss. Which obviously wouldn't happen in a 1960s TV series. But if it were a man and a woman, something definitely would have happened.
Well, Iāve gone on too long in a post that no one is going to read. But anyway, I had to say it.
