One thing i love about Louis is that he never seemed to be jealous of Zayn’s voice, even when his was generally considered the “weakest.”

It really seems not. He didn’t have a manager, or any kind of team assembled. He just...left. It speaks to the anguish he had to have been in and contrasts with how seamlessly Harry moved on.

I actually had to write this. Look, Zayn Malik isn’t being grateful to 1D because they pretty much pressurized and relegated the person he was. If you feel you are becoming supporting role though you sing almost all of the main vocals you are gonna be pissed. I mean seriously Harry Styles pretty much disses him because Harry has a bit of a rivalry with him. It’s obvious. Zayn is a half brown POC guy who exudes great vocals and is EXTREMELY POPULAR. In fact, Zayn’s fanbase is as large or even larger than Harry’s. I know Harry isn’t so sad that he left the band (him dissing pillowtalk kinda proved that). And 1D didn’t make Zayn Malik that would be like saying Destiny’s Child made Beyonce or that Wham! made George Michael or No Doubt is the reason Gwen Stefani is so famous . Yes, the bands did give them a platform for success but they are artists who clearly are talented in their own right. I mean the only reason this is an issue because Zayn doesn’t fit the bill for success in mainstream pop culture. Coming from a Muslim background Zayn fucking scratches out all the Muslim stereotypes and South Asian ones and his song Pillowtalk furthers that in every single way. There are many artists who initially did not like what their band was like and what direction they were going on. Zayn does seem like an edgier guy. A guy who has more glam rock, soft rock and hard rock motifs in his looks and aesthetics. 1D is too pop oriented. It can naturally put Zayn off. Maybe, he doesn’t hate it but he doesn’t have to enjoy it. If Harry Styles one day says he hates singing the love songs of 1D or Justin Bieber says he doesn’t really like singing particular love songs as they don’t fit who he has become and won’t sing some of his old tracks no one would really diss them. Because they are White and fit the Euro stereotype. Rather people would flock to do writeups to support their decisions. Seriously, I heard Zayn’s new tracks and it does suit him. He seems to also go a bit with Naughty Boy’s edgier grungy love tone which is both heavy but sensuous like “Runnin” which was sung by Beyonce. And 1D is not like that. And if Zayn is trying to reinvent himself what is wrong with that? I bet if Harry Styles today starts a solo career he might go along the same lines. There isn't anything wrong with that. I just see people not liking Zayn because he doesn’t revere 1D. George Michael, Gwen Stefani and Beyonce are not put on the stop to revere their former bands. So, Zayn shouldn’t either.
