Next up is the California Least Tern. This endangered coastal bird is found mostly in Southern California with populations ranging from San Francisco to Northern most Mexico. The species was originally negatively impacted by the millinary trade which collects feathers for women's hats. Today, habitat loss, human disturbance, hunting by domestic species, dredging and pollution continue to contribute to the bird's decline but thanks to protected lands the population is more stable. #california #bird #leasttern #illustration #conservation #endangeredspecies
