The physics behind shifting
Hey verdict here!
This post is for all my shifters who, like me, are always looking for logic and want to understand the principle behind shifting.
Side note: you don't have to understand shifting to do it, you just have to believe in yourself (or not, just do what feels best for you).
Anyway, there are six theories in total:
1. Multiverse theory
Basic idea:
There are an infinite number of parallel realities. Every possible version of you already exists somewhere.
When shifting:
Some believe that your consciousness shifts from this reality to another one where, for example, Hogwarts is real or your dream life exists.
Others believe that both versions of you already exist simultaneously and you just need to become aware of your other version. So your awareness shifts, so to speak.
2. Consciousness/Focus Theory
Basic idea:
There are not multiple worlds, but one consciousness that can take on different perceptions.
When shifting:
You change your mental focus so much that another reality feels real.
→ Comparable to extremely intense imagination, only more stable.
3. Dream/lucid dream approach
Basic idea:
Shifting is a special form of lucid dreaming.
When shifting:
You fall asleep, remain conscious, and shape the dream world in such detail that it seems like real reality.
Difference from normal dreaming:
- More control
- Clearer sense of time
- More stable environment
4. Astral travel theory
Basic idea:
Humans consist of a body + astral body.
When shifting:
The astral body leaves the physical body and enters another plane or reality.
This theory has strong roots in esotericism and spiritual teachings.
5. Psychological theory
Basic idea:
Shifting is a mental state between wakefulness, dissociation, and daydreaming.
When shifting:
The brain creates an extremely immersive experience through deep relaxation and expectation.
→ Similar to:
- Hypnosis
- Flow state
- Intense imagination
6. Manifestation/Law of Assumption Approach
Basic idea:
Your beliefs shape your experience.
When shifting:
You assume that you are already there—and your experience adapts to this assumption.
This is less about “shifting” and more about experiencing through conviction.
My opinion:
I personally believe that only the first theory, the multiverse, really explains shifting. However, it is not your consciousness that shifts, as many think, but your awareness. However, the function itself, how you become aware of this other version of yourself, works through an interplay of the other theories. There are certainly countless other theories, so feel free to let me know what you believe! This is only my opinion and I would love to know yours.
