Like said above, a friend of mine's lizards (two skinks and a geko) were mistreated by a long-term pet sitter. They only just got the critters back into their care, and the poor things are in a bit of a state. They're being cared for and treated now, which is great, but that wasn't the only problem. The enclosures/items inside of the enclosures were damaged, not properly cared for/cleaned, or otherwise removed without being replaced. I'm not sure if they want me to share pictures, but it wasn't pretty.
