         ingrid plops down outside bernadetta’s door on the assumption that the purple - haired loner is in there.  if not, ingrid will simply look like an idiot.  she exhales, nervous to greet an old friend after so long apart.  “ bernadetta? ”  she calls softly.  she needs somewhere to be, away from the rest of the soldiers for now, away from her own thoughts of her family and betrayal, but not entirely alone.  “ it’s ingrid — i promise i won’t bang your door down, or make you spar with me or train with me.  i just... needed somewhere to clear my head. ”

          “ are you saying you still don’t trust me? ”  cinder’s eye narrows, baring their teeth in their frustration.  they huff, eyes closing, gritting their teeth together like two saws grinding against each other.  cinder swallows.  “ you said it yourself, ” maiden begins, eye opening.  they step towards her calmly, crunch of leaves beneath their feet.  “ we are the unlucky few.  you and i. ”  stopping just in front of her, they inhale the chilled air into heated lungs, yet it’s her eyes that make them freeze.  

          “ whatever the case, it’s over, ” cinder states firmly, eye still fixated on the dirt path that lies ahead of the duo.  truthfully, neither of them know where they’re actually going, but somewhere, somewhere away from the rest of the world’s eyes.  “ eventually, i ended up with salem. ”  fall pauses their speech to lift their grimm arm, black palm facing upwards as they flex their fingers.  every time that they look at the evil incarnate attached to their body feels like it is the first time, still unused to its presence.  “ —- not that that did me any good, either, ” they mutter coldly.

         “ i suspect it is by miracle alone that you are here tonight. ”  hubert mumbles, turning to the panicked, purple - haired DISASTER  ( who trembles like a scared animal ) standing all by herself in the corner of the ballroom.  “ nevertheless, that you are here at all is progress, bernadetta. ”

all in all, it just depends on what you’d wanna do and what direction you’d wanna take them? i’m down for essentially anything. i sort of like the idea of like, a spontaneous romance popping up wayyyyy down the line should they both ultimately defect from salem? it doesn’t even need to be romance initially, but i love the thought of both of them despite everything realizing that… they don’t have anybody else aside from each other because of the way they’ve treated people over time, and that sort of binds them together in the end, even if they bicker. them realizing how similar they are… yeah. yeah. 

this sort of bonding could apply to an ultimately familial relationship too! like i said it just depends on the direction you want to take it.
