So. . . LDBot recently became obsessed with Steven Universe. She has been watching it, singing the songs, drawing all sorts of fusions, and talking about it non-stop for about a week now.

She also just recently discovered that she can draw on her phone.

So she decided to make herself a Gemsona.

She is a bit obsessed with the color orange since we watch Encanto and she decided that she was Pepa (as a child of course). This definitely stems off the fact that she has red hair (strawberry blonde really, but she's the only one of us that has it). She has a habit of taking on the personalities of all the red headed heroines in the shows and movies we watch. She also really like Pepa because "she's so dramatic with her emotions" which fits LDBot pretty perfectly.

I asked her why she had the scar thing across her face, and she said it was an accident, but she liked it so she decided to just make it part of her.

Her gem is on her cheek. Which I think maybe is just supposed to replace the freckles that she left off. She only has them on one side of her face, so I assume that was her thinking with that decision.

Also, this pose she is in, is her "I'm being shy" pose which I'm pretty sure she thinks is her cutest pose. She does it everytime she has an audience even though she's anything but shy.

And finally, my favorite part of this picture. . . she drew the different emotions you might see on her face. I'm sure it's just the mom in me, but I think that's like next level.

I love that you've gotten so into the show that you figured out how to send an ask to my Tumblr. A little sad, because now I have to watch what I say, but still cool.

I'd be Garnet. Hands down, the coolest Gem and person in general in the show. And anyway, future vision would make me a much cooler mom, right? Homeworld gem? no idea. uh, probably one of the Off Colors. Probably Flourite. She seems to be intelligent and laid back.

*If anyone else wants to answer this one, we'd love to hear it. Seems like an interesting puzzle. Who would you be on two sides of a war...

As for me, I don't have one on the Crystal Gems side since Stevonnie's out. Does Spinel count? Probably not...

On the Homeworld side of things... Spinel definitely counts here right? Other than that, maybe one of the Amethysts?*

You are so method!

I adore this line. . . I have a method six year old. I'm totally going to start calling her this instead of dramatic.

Seriously, she's the most dramatic child I've ever seen. Sometimes she goes days within the same character. And she will stay in that character even if she's being reprimanded for something. Currently, she's the assistant teacher in a classroom (with a bunch of dolls as students). For 3 days now, she has gone through all the core classes plus recess and an art or pe class with them. She's spends hours doing this everyday.

Last week, she was a mom, and when her dad told her to put up her doll (her daughter) she started crying, trying to explain to him that she wasn't a doll, she was a real little girl and you can't put up a real little girl.

The boys used to slide into these random conversations where they were playing characters from tv shows or whatever without any notice. It was confusing and funny. But they wouldn't last very long.

Okay, did this feel like click-bait to anyone else?

We started the episode finally looking for Lapis and Jasper, but now we are watching dream sequences at a slumber party!

Being in Steven's imagination does always prove to be entertaining though!

So, SonBot and I were just trying to figure out when all we have been in Steven's imagination.

Twice in Rose's room and once in Garnet's Universe.

He said the Rose's Room ones didn't really count because they never turn out right so it's not completely his imagination. Really? Let me tell you something about LDBot.

She has a wicked HUGE imagination, and it sometimes takes her in unexpected directions that really upsets her. An example:

She was writing a comic book (in chapters, don't ask) and at the end of one of the chapters, a character died. And she was sitting over the book drawing the pictures and crying, nearly violently. I asked what was wrong and she said one of her favorite characters died.

Just to reiterate. . . She CRIED because one of her favorite characters died. in a comic book. that she was writing.

I'm a Big Boy Now

And I've gotta stop saying things like I'm a Big Boy Now_!_

Is the New Ninja Squad like the big boy's ninja squad? Or maybe I missed the point entirely.

I'm not complaining, mind you, kids should embrace their childhoods as long as possible. . . just not sure what's going on, or maybe not sure what Steven thinks is going on.

I was trying to think of how my boys handled this whole getting older thing. SonBot lost very few childhood interests and gained very few adult interests. He is still a big fan of animated movies and series and Disney stuff. . . but his reading interests moved from fantasy books like Harry Potter and Eragon as a child through a much older reading level Pern novels and Sci-Fi such as Ender's Game and on to, now, mostly online fan fiction.

My other son, we'll call him SecondBot, since he's not here to stop us. . . Continued liking things in the same genres, but it got darker and darker over time. Then as a young adult, he really jumped in feet first to alot of adult themed movies, books, and tv series. He still enjoys animated movies and shows, but South Park, Boondocks and Rick & Morty are his animated go tos while he's added such shows as SuperNatural and Breaking Bad to his arsenal.

DDBot (oldest daughter) never got into childish things, but oddly her tastes still change a lot. At 8 years old, she sewed and crafted and baked. She enjoyed Science and Math and wanted to be an Astronaut. But these days, she just wants to hang out with friends and play video games (only with friends) and see how much of her skin she can cover up with the color BLACK. . . She still bakes some and I'm sure she'll return to those interests soon enough, but for now she is in a "I'm too grown up" stage for childhood whimsy and an "I'm still a kid" phase when the responsibility starts.
