adulthood kind of kicked my ass for a minute there, but I’ve actually been working on LBP the whole time through, even though it’s not in post-able condition yet—I do have some playlists and doodles I might throw up in the next week or so, if anyone’s interested.

Really though, I’d realized a while back that the “comfort” aspect was the part of my stories I never knew how to handle, and the point at which all my projects got abandoned. My own personal shit clearly has been running the narrative, and now that the non-con cat’s out of the proverbial bag in the LBP-verse, I was really struggling with writing any kind of follow-up because I genuinely just....didn’t know where to go with it. I can’t recall who it was, but someone left me a review that asked why Swap!Pap and red would ever wind up together, and that question has haunted me. It’s great, and I’m so glad they asked because I think my writing truly needed it, but it’s been this sticking point I’ve been trying to work out before truly continuing. I think I’m getting there though, so hopefully the wait won’t be too long!

I feel like Blue always gets sidelined in favor of focusing on the honeymustard ship, and that!!! sucks!!!! Codependent siblings aren’t interesting if you’re ignoring one of them entirely!!!

I also think it comes out of the borderline infantilized fanon interpretation of Papyrus. I never liked that he was essentially portrayed as a giant child instead of a kind of weird, sad, sheltered guy who just…doesn’t have a ton of social skills and desperately wishes he did.

I assumed it was the same thing rather than protecting him in general, oopsies ! -🍤

We’ve learned how UF Undyne’s perspective of the skeleton family + Red’s arrival but not much on how people in US reacted, where Blue came much later than Red. I imagine that would have been harder to explain and more difficult for Blue to adjust socially. In Underfell Red was recognized as Edge’s guard dog/caretaker/brother to the public but I don’t know if that first one would apply the same in Underswap. Did Stretch grow up with Alphys as his childhood friend or Undyne? Did him and Undyne ever smoke together, and did she also deal weed like her UF counterpart? Does Blue still have any lingering mobility issues from his lack of tail? Is it visible enough to other people?

I’d always intended there to be more of that story, but it did get lost in the shuffle a little! Blue was such a hard character for me to get a feel for, and I absolutely want to flesh out his life a little bit instead of him just being The Fixer. So for a lot of these questions—i do plan to address most of them eventually so i don’t wanna spoil it all!

Most of the folks in Underswap don’t know where Blue came from. They all just sort of assumed he’s a product of an affair that Gaster did not want to be public knowledge, so there’s some gossip but only Stretch and Undyne really know where he came from. And i guess Alphys by extension?

Stretch, unlike Edge, didn’t really have any friends growing up. He was a standoffish kid, since most of his energy was devoted to just getting through the day and not like. Healthy bonds with other monsters.
