I always enjoy thinking about Hales with strong, beautiful and smart women. 

1. Who makes the first move and how?

Lydia. Laura is incredibly awkward and oblivious when it comes to flirting, and while she does like Lydia, a lot, all of Lydia’s attempts to flirt with her just... Fly over her head. That is, until Lydia gets tired of the situation, asks her out on a date, and then kisses her. 

5. Who says ‘I love you’ first?

Laura. When she realizes she loves Lydia, she has this ‘oh, shit’ moment before she panics. She tells Derek about it, because what if it’s too soon? Is she rushing things? Should she tell her? If she doesn’t tell her, would Lydia notice something’s off? What should she do? All the while Derek just stands there, blinking. So Laura makes up her mind about it, decides to ask Lydia on a date, and tell her while they’re dinning. 

But things don’t go according to plan when she goes to pick up Lydia, and upon seeing her, Laura’s brain stops working and she just blurts it out. Thankfully, Lydia is happy to reciprocate. 

13. When do they realize they should get together?

Right after Laura tells Lydia she loves her, it only makes sense for her to ask Laura to make things oficial. This amazing woman loves her, and Lydia is sure she loves her as well, so why wait? They talk about it over diner, and by the end of the night, they’re oficially a couple. 

17. When they find a time machine, where do they go? 

When they find it, Lydia is ecstatic about it, because imagine all the cool places they could go to. They could visit the roman empire, go to the ancient greece, see The Great Library of Alexandria! She can’t decide where to go, so she asks Laura to choose first.

It was certainly weird for Laura coming back to Beacon Hills after everything that had happened and trying to become a part of her little brother’s life again now that the threat of death was locked away in Eichen House. Of all people, Lydia should have been the last person Laura had gotten close to. She was a banshee. She literally predicted when death was near—the one thing Laura had been running from ever since she escaped those years ago barely alive and with alpha power stripped from her. Still, there was something about the girl’s sharp wit and flippant comments that made Laura chuckle and be drawn to her.

In the end, maybe it was fate that they grew closer. The first time Laura witnessed Lydia having a panic attack, she understood it then. Neither of them asked for this. Neither of them wanted to be surrounded by death or suffering. They just had to stand strong in the face of it anyway. It was Laura who held Lydia in her arms as she tried to comfort her, and it was Lydia who grabbed Laura’s wrist to stop her from trying to pack her things and bolt from Beacon Hills again.

Laura didn’t always feel like the strong, older sibling that Derek always said she was and looked up to, but she always felt stronger when she was standing by Lydia’s side.
