Ferrari 555 "Super Squalo" '1955β1956
The Ferrari 555 "Super Squalo" is an evolution of the 553 F1, which received its nickname (from the Italian Squalo - "shark") for the characteristic bulging sides in which the fuel tanks were located.
Engine: A 2.5-liter (2,497 cc) inline-4 engine designed by Aurelio Lampredi, producing approximately 260 hp at 7,200 rpm.
Chassis and body: Steel tubular frame (the first of its kind for Ferrari) with improved aerodynamics compared to its predecessor and coil spring front suspension.
Results: The car proved difficult to handle and was not particularly successful. Its best result in official Grand Prix racing was Eugenio Castellotti's third place at the 1955 Italian Grand Prix. Fate: After 1955, Ferrari switched to the Lancia-Ferrari D50 project.
