So I found this Wikipedia article and DIED of a nerdgasm.
My reaction was basically UNDERSTAND ALL THE WORDS
with a little ALL OF THE BIOLOGICAL TERMS I HAVE BEEN TAUGHT ALL HAVE SUCH WONDERFULLY LITERAL MEANINGS. (zym means ferment and lysozymes digest stuff within cells)
And here's a pile of other crap:
Some of them are brilliantly specific:
Cheleno- relating to a turtle... what..? Monil- a string of beads... Nuch- back of neck (hnnng). Palustr- in marshes. Phalar- having a patch of white. Prasin- leak green. Squarros- spreading at tips. Strigos- having stiff bristles.
I just want to take them all and incorporate them into some sort of fantasy alternative universe.
Some of them just conjure lovely images:
Taenia- ribbon. Xanth- yellow. Xiph- sword.
Calligraphy literally means beautiful writing.
Callipygian (I just thought of this now) has calli in it too. (And pygo means 'rump' apparently)
If anima means breath then what's with animagous? If celer means quick what's with celery? Orch- testicle forms orchid... What..?
Cata (down): catacombs (I just like the word catacombs)
Sinistr means left which is interesting cause they used to think left handed people were evil (could be a coincidence I suppose)
Galact mean milk so at first I was like galactic what..? But MILKY WAY. GENIUS. I've seen four different roots for milk so far... (galact, lact, mulg/muls)
Cirrus clouds from cirru for curl or tentacle. AWESOME

Also it is generally brilliant for being able to make up your own words:
Paper- not. Cling- her, hes. And I make hernotaphobia a fear of clinging paper for example stickers (I may or may not have this condition).

ALSO MY WHOLE BRAIN IS LIKE diNOSsaRS: veloc- fast. Velociraptor. Small dinosaurs that hunted in packs. They musta been fast, eh? Also they were very intelligent. I like velociraptors. (I am secretly Anderson)
