Hey love, about your DR ask. I totally get where you're coming from, I for one read the book after my sister (big Pacat fan) recc'd it to me and I must say, at first I didn't really understand where she was coming from with the sexual tension she was talking about. I mean, they're still kids and I get that libido doesn't just switch on at the exact age of 18/21, but I just didn't really see it that way. However, looking back on it and the plot twist at the end (spoiler alert for people who are currently reading!??), to me it feels more like this "sexual" tension is not between Will and James, but rather their past selves. Does that make sense? No matter how much they both try and distance themselves from their past (Will trying to be good, James wanting to keep his freedom by stealing the collar), they're both still chained to it and the most obvious way in which that is shown to us readers is the scenes when they interact. It's a very interesting approach and it's borderlining YA and a "Mature content" sticker on the back, but I do wonder why Pacat chose to make DR YA. I mean, it could've easily been less... convulted!? if the book was marketed as any other genre really; at this point I'm just curious to know how Pacat will handle the rest of the series. Sorry for the ramble, but I got bored of me and my sister bouncing ideas only off each other lol! I'm looking forward to more of your book reviews!! Lots of love
it does make sense! i do agree that if pacat was to make it ya she probably shouldve just Stuck To It, otherwise just marketing it as a different genre which i think wouldβve been easier all around.. and thanks for the support!! esp cuz this is a new blog lol
