What's your approach to dissertations? It just seems overwhelming for me right now and I was wondering if you had a process that helps. Also, how much is enough research before you start actually writing the dissertation? It seems like the research is never-ending
I have started to write my dissertation now and I did that after I established a title, chapter headings and some key questions to ask in each chapter.
I still have lots of books I want to read and include but if I didn’t start writing soon I would have forgotten what I found so interesting about the first books I’d read. From my writing the research I do in the future will be much easier to shape and fit into the narrative of my dissertation.
My advice would be: don’t separate reading and writing. I sometimes do both simultaneously, sometimes I make notes whilst reading then write soon after but it’s not a good idea to do all the reading and then leave yourself with all the writing.
