yes, I can!Love’s Work by Gillian Rosethe last few years my life has been shaped by reading Rose’s philosophy. this is not a heavy book, it’s her memoir but it is more than that. it is Rose’s exploration of life at the end of her own life, it is small and beautiful and yet it contains such multitudes

Paradiso by Dante especially this translation by Dorothy Sayers that retains the rhyming of the original. Paradiso is my favourite book of the Commedia and especially the last few cantos where Dante meets God. I think often of the beauty, paradox and divinity of those cantos.

I have started to write my dissertation now and I did that after I established a title, chapter headings and some key questions to ask in each chapter.

I still have lots of books I want to read and include but if I didn’t start writing soon I would have forgotten what I found so interesting about the first books I’d read. From my writing the research I do in the future will be much easier to shape and fit into the narrative of my dissertation.

Hello. My habits are very variable. Some months I’ll spend most evenings in my armchair reading, some months I’ll barely manage more than a few chapters caught on the bus or on a plane. I often read on the train to university or if I’m out travelling somewhere. I don’t tend to read in coffee shops as I need some degree of quiet.

Hello. If you want to access the reading rooms then you have to apply for a Reader Pass which is free and, if you’re a student, fairly painless. That said the reading rooms are really for research rather than study and you must have a list of books you wish to see in order to use them.

The communal areas like the café and atrium are free to access and have good wifi and quite a few plugs so make great study spaces. They can get very busy however so it’s worth having a back-up if you can’t find somewhere to sit.
