Day 6 of first vacation in two years: I climbed up Coba and it wasn’t hard. You see—I say that as powerfully as I can because I tend to underestimate my abilities, especially the physical stuff. It’s part of the conditioning many of us hear or experience—the shame of not always appearing to be the way society “thinks” we should appear. That’s changing for me. So far, that’s what I’ve learned more about myself on this trip. That despite what others might think we can or cannot do, we will. Takes me to one of my favorite days this year, one of the last @monumental_loop Thursday night rides, where their were sheets of rain falling, a monstrous collection of flashing lightening, and thunderous roars of sounds all around. I was at the end of a 20mi gravel ride, and slow AF (per usual) but I finished, and hella drenched. The only way to describe the end of that ride that night was that I was a buffalo (one of my favorite animals) riding into, rather than away from a storm. Since then, and much like today—I remember that feeling when shit gets hard. Moments when I think I can’t accomplish something, mostly because I’m hearing all those voices in my head saying I can’t—that I can push through and say, “fuck it...yeah I can. And I most certainly will.” That was me today. And I’m not gonna lie, it’s been me most days this year. But I’m hopeful that in the way I crushed Coba today, that I’ll push through many of the storms that lay ahead. #LasCrucesNTulum #Day6 #RogueRubioGoingForIt (at Zona Arqueologica De Cobá, Quintana Roo.) https://www.instagram.com/p/BoX7RuFgU5r/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=nphp9jft94l4
