I must have the bootleg copy because I don’t see the additional song title on there. Most of these songs are from Norman‘s work with #people in the #1960s and going forward from there. I was lucky enough to see him perform two or three times around Southern California in the late #70s and early #80s. Hoy 08 de Abril, sería el aniversario del nacimiento del padre del rock cristiano: Larry Norman. Era un auténtico rockero. Llevaba el pelo largo, tocaba la guitarra y reunía a miles de personas en sus conciertos. Todo ello en los años 70 y 80, una de las épocas donde el rock sonaba por todo el mundo. Sin embargo, algo diferenciaba a Norman de la mayoría de músicos de rock en EEUU. Se le ha llamado como “el padre del rock cristiano”. Aunque sus fans no siempre fueran creyentes, para él lo más importante era Jesús. Cristo para él representaba la verdadera contracultura del momento y aparece mucho en sus letras. El autor, Gregory Alan Thornbury, quien escribe la biografía sobre el músico, titulada como uno de sus éxitos: Why Should the Devil Have All the Good Music? (¿Por qué debería quedarse el Diablo con toda la buena música?) enmarca a Norman dentro del “Jesus Movement” (El movimiento de Jesús), una iniciativa evangélica y evangelizadora que se extendió por todo Estados Unidos durante los 70 y 80. El movimiento hacía un especial énfasis en la forma de vida de los primeros cristianos (tal como la imaginaban) y en ir contracorriente, al estilo de su contemporáneo, el movimiento “hippie”, pero centrado en Jesús. Implicaba un "vivir el momento", un desapego a las cosas materiales y también a las convenciones y el "qué dirán". Siempre recordamos su música, su arte, si carácter, su humanidad.
