This painting was an intentional attempt to achieve a specific look and feel. As I’ve mentioned before, my paintings are mostly a result of a lifetime of memories, images, and thoughts, unlocked and put on canvas. But, for this one, it was important that I break from the norm. This is a busy painting. It tells a story through the collage style images of winter trees, TV antennas, foliage, and two profiles of figures who seem to fade off into the background. The colors are retro and a little vintage, indicating a story that took place long ago. The geometric shapes are strong and rigid, so as to say, there’s no leeway to these memories. I’m very proud of this work and consider it a turning point in my evolution as an artist. I learned a great deal from it. Made some mistakes but also opened some doors. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you. 🔷 Painting: The Light Is Theirs To Bend, 2021.
