She had heard talk of another witcher in town– rare, considering how few of them there were left. Had it not been for her husband, she never even would have thought there to be witchers out west of the Blue Mountains, especially in Redania, a backwards, uncivilized land where they murdered anyone who dealt with magic. While many of the common folk of the East also had a distrust for mages that weren’t affiliated with religion, they at least didn’t mob against them and lynch them or set them on fire.
She had at least hoped to see the Oxenfurt Academy and perhaps update her Beastiary on the local fauna, but it seemed that the ignorance of the Redanian government knew no bounds, and had closed it down, either due to the war going on or, by Rashiida’s guess, because they feared that knowledge would corrupt the minds of the people. Either way, it was certainly different from the East.
So, instead, she kept herself in the Inn, watching the bards play as she wolfed down her dinner, a whole roast chicken, three apples, and two loaves of bread, having worked up a ferocious appetite on her journey. Since there was another witcher already in town, the few contracts that were out had probably already been taken by him, so she didn’t think any need to stick around. She planned on leaving first thing in the morning.
