Hey guys. How's it going? It's been a long week so far, but I can already smell the weekend around the corner 😉. . So as some of you know, I've recently visited Amsterdam 🇳🇱 and met my buddy @whiskypeater 🙂 and being the good friend that he is, he just couldn't let me leave empty handed 😄 This is the first of several whisky samples he gave me 🙂 the Laphroaig Lore 🥃. . So, here are my tasting notes for this one: . Nose: Rich notes of smoke, sea water, raisins and bitter chocolate, shrouded in mineral accents. . Palate: Strong smoke flavors, apple peel, charcoal, raisins and spices perfectly match the slightly oily consistency of the whisky. . Finish: Short, dry, with persistent sweet notes. . Color: Intense mahogany. . Now you probably know that I am not a huge peated whisky fan, but, the Lore is just so good, I really like it 🙂. It could be because they chose to use first fill bourbon barrels, small barrels of oak wood that allow wood to reach up to 60% higher than in the case of a large barrel and Oloroso sherry barrels 😉. .
