Indochinese Gray Langur Trachypithecus crepusculus
This species is found throughout Indochina, from northern Thailand east to Vietnam and west to eastern Myanmar, and ranges north to southern China south of the Salween River. Unlike langurs that live in karst forests, which have a largely terrestrial lifestyle, the Indochinese grey langur inhabits old-growth evergreen forests and has a largely arboreal lifestyle.

Rock Apes Identified
Reports from the Battle of Dong Den suggest that the so‑called “Rock Apes” were likely Red‑Shanked Douc Langurs, an endangered primate species native to the area. Marines who set up camp on the hill reportedly encountered the territorial, rock‑throwing animals, resulting in injuries on both sides. Over time, the incident is said to have grown from accounts of aggressive monkeys defending their habitat into exaggerated Bigfoot‑style legends, even though the animals involved were a known local species that still inhabits the region today.
Bornean Grey Langur Presbytis hosei
In 1996, Hose's langurs of East Kalimantan, Indonesia, were among the most common primates in the area. In 2003, their population densities have decreased by 50–80%.

Life is a sheltered affair—at the moment—for this newborn gray langur tucked in the protective arms of its mother near Jodhpur, India. The infant needs to mature quickly, though. Other langurs may soon shatter its peaceful existence.
