from the Valle Elqui we take a BIG leap to the North, hitchhiking 1000km in 2 days. first ride brings us to Copiapo where we stay with Boris - then a camión takes us to Antofagasta. The road leads more than 500km through the middle of the desert, a stunning ride! (La Mano del Desierto is a brief photo-stop)

In Oruro, the best experience was walking the most amazing markets I’ve seen so far - those places are crowded but the GRINGO stays unbothered - even while walking with my camera. Good times shopping and taking pictures. I love the calm paced, yet busy atmosphere, such as the rather retreated people of Bolivia. This is a very different place to Chile or Argentina!

more from San Pedro de Atacama - a really fascinating place to me (if it wasn't for the tourist invasion...) I completed a 45km MTBike ride through every angle of the Valle de la Luna....and the day ended in heavy rain and flooded roads.
