Captain Earthquake: Episode 1 - The Voices Hymn

An independently made mixed media musical cartoon about a pirate named Earthquake.

Hello! My name is Lali Wilde and I am a multimedia artist from Oakland, CA. I am currently creating this show, Captain Earthquake, entirely by myself. I make the music, act as different characters, draw and animate, and edit it all together. It's tons of fun.

This story originates from games I would play as a child, where I would travel through a wormhole in the sky into a magical land called Laliland. There, I was a new version of myself - a bizarre pirate named Captain Earthquake. Over the years, this world and its characters developed, and soon I started bringing the story to life, first through songs and drawings, and now through this cartoon. 

If you like complex lore and deep characters, this one’s for you. If you also like to just zone out and watch lots of pretty colors flash across the screen, this is also for you.

This project is a journey of self development and discovery. With each episode, I get to see the evolution of all of my artistic skills simultaneously. I also get to create a story that I think challenges the stories of popular culture. My aim is to create a narrative that surpasses traditional ideas of good and evil, and gives us examples of characters who learn and grow just like we do.
