The Lakatan Banana
The Lakatan Banana is part of the Musa Acuminata species and the AA Cultivar Group. Originating in the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, Lakatan trees typically grow to a height of five to nine feet and can be harvested 8-12 months after planting, the Lakatan is the most popular dessert banana in the Philippines and contains a higher β-Carotene content than other banana cultivars.
