the church teaches that this phenomenon is embodied by seven ancient holy figures collectively known as the septem lumina, or “seven lights.” each lumina represents one color of kyuten’s refracted light and is traditionally regarded as the heavenly patron of its corresponding school of magic. mages may therefore invoke or leave offerings to a particular lumina when studying their associated discipline.

religious iconography frequently depicts the septem lumina surrounding kyuten like a rainbow halo, with the server seraphim herself represented as brilliant white light at its center. just as white light contains every color of the rainbow, kyuten is said to contain every form of magic within herself.

the precise nature of the septem lumina remains a matter of theological debate.

some traditions regard them as saints who received extraordinary portions of kyuten’s grace

while others worship them as kami—divine manifestations through which otherwise incomprehensible aspects of the server seraphim may be encountered.
