There were times in his life where Kyo genuinely couldn’t believe how lucky he was. Never had he thought there would be a day he could get married, have children, and live his life to the fullest. When he was growing up all he was ever told was how he was a monster, how he was horrible and everything was his fault, how he’d be locked away forever. Kyo had been everyone’s scapegoat. The one everyone pushed the blame onto to make themselves feel better.

Kyoru Week: Day 2 - Firsts
I’m gonna be honest, I wrote this in like 2hrs; it’s nearly 1am (so I missed the deadline for the 2nd day in a row), and so I haven’t really edited it. Sorry if there’s any typos. I’ll try to do a good polish/edit tomorrow when I’m awake again. :P
UPDATE: K. It should be all edited now. ^_^ UPDATE #2: I forgot to mention that you can also read this story on AO3, on FFN, or on DA

Experience It All
Spoilers: Story is post high school graduation Romance Level: Newly Dating Word Count: 1493 Summary: It's the first apartment Kyo ever owned. The first one he and TOHRU ever owned. And he becomes surprised as to how many more "firsts" they have to go.
Kyo was buzzing with nervous energy. The keys to their new place clinked against each other as he spun the ring around his index finger, catching the keys and then spinning them in the opposite direction. Spin clockwise. Catch. Clink. Spin counter-clockwise. Catch. Clink. Spin clockwise again.
“Is this it?” Tohru clung to Kyo's left arm. She had been taking in the quaintness of the village he had moved her to, but upon hearing the jingle of the keys, she focused on the building before them.
“It's gonna be small,” Kyo warned, not moving as he took in the apartment complex. “It's not going to be like Shigure's place, or your grandfather's.”
“That's okay. Mom and I used to have a small place. Besides, I'm sure it will be way bigger than a tent.” She giggled, and hugged Kyo's arm close.
She had spent months in that tent, alone in woods she didn't realize had belonged to the affluent Sohma family.
Months. Alone.
Kyo had never been alone. Not really. He had been neglected, sure, and might as well have been alone. Still, he always had an adult near by. When he was real young it was his mother. Then, after she died and Kyo was all but disowned by his father, Kazuma Sohma took him in. He had loved Kyo, and the boy took that love for granted. Worse. He didn't accept that it was real, not before he met Tohru. Even when Kyo was lost within himself - after failing to save Tohru's mother – he wasn't alone. Kazume spirited him away to recover and revive. Then it was Shigure's turn to watch over Kyo.
For someone who felt isolated and unloved, he always had a guiding hand. He was the adult now; almost. He wasn't living in someone else's house anymore. This was his place. He held keys for his home. He was the master of this place. He wasn't sure he was ready for that sort of responsibility. Why couldn't he be a stupid kid again?
Kyoru Week Day 5: Paper Flowers
Word Count: 413
The dining room table was a disaster. Construction paper pieces of varying sizes and color were strewn across the surface, crayons and markers were leaving trails of color in their wake, and the glue - oh, god, the glue. Kyo would be up scrubbing this damn table long after the kids went to bed. He should have put down newspaper. Tohru always put down newspaper like a responsible mother, but he had forgotten and now he would pay the price.
Hajime was doing his best to not contribute to the mess too much, like the responsible ten-year-old that he was, but Uchi, at only six, was....focusing on the task at hand more than the havoc he was wrecking. Ko, their only daughter and still a toddler, was seated on Kyo’s lap as he tried his best to help her with her project. He could tell that they were all having a great time, and he knew that Tohru would fall over herself with joy when she received her handmade Mother’s Day cards, but right now, he would be lying if he said it wasn’t stressful.
“Daddy! Blue!” Ko exclaimed, and Kyo grabbed the marker that was just out of reach of her tiny hand.
While she scribbled on her purple construction paper, he asked the boys, “So how’s it coming? Are you guys about finished up? Mom will be home soon.”
“Yeah, I think I’m almost done,” Hajime responded, “I just need to put on the finishing touches.”
“I need more construction paper!” Uchi proclaimed.
“Buddy, I think you have plenty of construction paper to choose from here. What color do you need?”
Uchi thought. “Pink! Will you cut a heart, Dad?”
“I sure will.” Kyo found some pink paper and started trying his best with the child-safe scissors. They sucked, honestly.
“Dad, aren’t you going to make anything?” Hajime asked him then.
“Well, I don’t know. I’ve been mostly focused on you guys.”
“You should!” Uchi said as Kyo handed him his pink heart. “I bet Mama would really like it.”
“Maybe. Should I make her a card?”
“Yeah!” Uchi agreed.
“I think you should do something different,” Hajime said, somewhat distracted as he searched for a crayon, “Like origami or something, I don’t know.”
“Hm.” Kyo thought of something then that he knew she would love. She still had the original displayed proudly on their mantle. He hoped he still remembered how to fold it as he reached for some paper.
My first Kyoru fic: this is for Kyoru week 2019 day 1 prompt: Stay (BEWARE POST MANGA SO READ AT OWN CAUTION)
Stay:
Kyo had never been very good in awkward situations, especially when a certain rat boy was involved. So when he was caught being affectionate with the love of his life by his ex worst enemy, his first instinct was to flee. That, however was not in the cards for him on this occasion. With Tohru comfortably sat in his lap, asleep, with her head cuddled into his chest and his own arms wrapped around her, he tried to push his embarrassment aside, as Yuki speedily left the room, muttering under his breath about how much the “stupid cat” had changed in such a short time.
Kyo knew not to rise to it, he had learnt a lot in the past couple of years and his temper was already depleting. It was impossible to stay angry for long with his beautiful ray of sunshine in his arms. He turned to kiss her forehead, thankful for this amazing girl who loved him for a reason he couldn’t even fathom, and who helped him without even realising it. The person who’s pure determination kept him from running away and regretting for the rest of his life those few years ago when she begged him not to leave. The same girl who, even through her fear, was more scared to lose him forever than she was of his cursed form.
He loved this girl more than anyone or anything in the entire world, would give her the world if she ever asked, not that she ever would. Her strength, compassion and selflessness were some of the many reasons he fell for her. He would spend the rest of his life being her support, her anchor and trying to make her smile. After all that’s what she was for him.
