I'm pinning this because people keep asking for links to all the AUs in one place so here is a link to another old ask with the rest of the AUs not listed here.
People also always ask how they should be reading these. Scroll to the end of every tag. Read from bottom to top. So oldest to newest. That's how it'll all make the most sense.

We know you're proud of your pain brand but don't sell yourself short on the fluff brand Papi. You have a squishy heart we know it. CFAU has some of my favorite heart-warming, saccharine sweet stuff I've ever read in my years of consuming any type of fiction. Chapter 32 proved that you're untouchable on the angst and pain but you're also //amazing// at fluff so to balance out all the recent pain youve dished out, give us domestic Kalena. How do they find out they're pregnant with baby Natasha?
When Kate discovers she's pregnant Yelena isn't in New York. She was supposed to be gone for another ten days because they'd unearthed a fresh cluster of Widows spread out through South America. Tracking these Widows down had been a massive undertaking in both effort and time so when Yelena said she had to be gone for almost three weeks, Kate wasn't thrilled about it but she understood.
When Yelena lands back in Manhattan she's exhausted, bruised, and sore in all the wrong places. Frankly, all she wants to do is reach into the fridge, grab the first thing her hands land on, then plop in bed with her wife, and sleep for days. Nothing else. If it involves moving, she doesn't want anything to do with it. That's the headspace she's in when she opens the door.
Instead of relaxing quiet, Yelena is greeted with music being blasted from the kitchen. That definitely means Kate is in a good mood and Good Mood Kate is extra chatty Kate. Yelena inhales and exhales dramatically, preparing herself for what she already knows is about to happen.
Yelena walks past the dining room on the way to the kitchen but backtracks when she notices there's half a spread already waiting. It's only 4pm which makes the table being set distinctly odd but, Yelena did land hours earlier than she should've so, logic would lead to believe that Kate merely moved dinner up as a result.
Yelena shrugs and keeps walking.
"Kate, I..."
Yelena barely gets words out before she hears Kate barreling to meet her.
"Not allowed! You're not allowed in here!"
Kate intercepts her in the hallway.
"Hi." Kate places a quick kiss on Yelena's lips, clearly leaving Yelena wanting more when she pulls away. "That bruise looks bad, Yel. Did you ice it?"
"Yeeeeees." Yelena retorts mildly annoyed.
"If you had, it wouldn't have gotten like that. You should've iced it and then..."
Yelena kisses Kate to stop her from going any further. She doesn't feel like being chastised at the moment.
"I iced it. It still looks like this. Nothing I could do about it, okay?"
"Okay...Go to the living room and chill for a bit. I'll call you when I'm ready."
"Ready for what, Kate? All I want is you and me, upstairs, naked in bed, sleeping."
"Plenty of time for that later. Promise. My stuff's gonna burn. Wait over there."
Yelena doesn't have the energy to argue and does as she's told.
Yelena enters the living room, starts dumping the gear she still had on her on the couch and coffee table, and then sits. She huffs, crosses her arms over her chest, and falls back onto the plush cushions dramatically. Seems like she doesn't really have much of a choice but to pout in silence.
--
Twenty minutes and a lot of ruckus later, Kate walks into the living room looking like a five year old who got sugar injected straight into their veins.
"Okay! All done! Let's go!"
Yelena exhales and shakes her head.
"Kate, I am tired and a bit angry hungry. Can we please just have quiet night?"
Kate lifts Yelena to her feet and delivers a firm but quick kiss to her lips.
"Shh. Shh. Shh. Just go with it."
"You always want me to 'go with it'. 'Go with it'. I want to 'go with' to my bed."
Kate drags Yelena to the dining room despite her grumbling. She guides Yelena to one of the two chairs that have plates across from them, pulls the chair back, and signals her to sit. Yelena rolls her eyes but follows directions promptly. She knows better than to not. Once she's on the chair, Kate pushes it in so Yelena's body is flush against the table. Yelena goes to remove the silver cloche dome that rested atop her plate.
"No! No. Not yet."
"Kate, come on!"
Five seconds later, when she feels she's situated herself in her chair properly, Kate nods.
"Okay, you can take it off now."
Yelena mumbles what Kate is certain is some less than pleasant thing in Russian.
"So...on the right you have some Baby Cow covered in Baby Bella Mushroom sauce. On the left you have some dry rubbed Baby Back Ribs. For the sides we have Baby Corn, Baby Carrots, Baby Spinach, and Baby Potatoes. Oh...we should definitely start with the Baby Pancakes and the..."
"Wait, please..." The exasperation in Yelena's voice is becoming clear. "That is a blini, Kate. No one calls it 'baby pancake'. That's like saying scone is baby cake. It makes no sense. It's a blini."
"It's a baby pancake with baby fish eggs."
"Baby fish eggs?! Kate, please. PLEASE. That is caviar." Yelena thinks for a beat then a thought hits her. "Did you get into your mother's wine collection again? This is wine drunk Kate Bishop things."
Kate laughs.
"No wine. I'm completely sober."
"Then out of all crazy things my wife has done, this might be craziest. And what is with all the baby things? Americans are so weird. Just buy normal size and cut into small piece when you eat. How hard can that be?! Can I eat now, Kate? Please."
"You can eat."
Kate is incapable of holding back her smile, or laughter for that matter, so she sits back and watches Yelena tear into the plate like a starved animal.
"Hmmm...it is very good. Very good. Thank you for making it, милая. I was really hungry." Yelena realizes Kate hasn't touched her plate. "What? You are not eating."
Kate snickers.
"I'm good."
"Why you are not eating?"
"I'm fine. Just eat."
Yelena scans Kate's smiling face and squints.
"No. Tsk tsk. Something is wrong and you say you are 'fine' now and then you will be mad at me for a week later if I do not figure it out. What is it?"
It's impossible for Kate to be smiling any harder at this point.
"Nothing's wrong. I promise."
"Kate Bishop..."
"I have nothing to be mad about. Finish your food."
"Only if you tell me what is happening."
"Look at the table. What's the common denominator?"
Yelena's eyes carefully examine everything around her as she takes a few more bites.
"Did...you get everything at farmer's market?"
Kate laughs.
"Nope. Definitely not it."
"Kate..."
"Baby...you're too smart for this, c'mon. What's the one thing everything I just mentioned has in common? You just pointed it out two minutes ago."
"I do not want to play games. You tell me what you want me to know that way you do not get mad at me later. Everyone is happier."
"Baby..."
"Yes?"
Yelena responds while shoving a forkful of food into her mouth. Kate laughs in earnest and shakes her head. How much clearer can she make it at this point?
"You're being so thick right now."
"YOU are thick. Just tell me, Kate."
"Okay. Look at me. Focus. Think about the one really important thing we've been holding for an answer on and then look at your plate."
Yelena huffs. She examines her plate for a beat then stares at Kate.
"Kate, I don't k..." Something clicks. Yelena knits her brow. She glances down at her plate, up at a beaming Kate, and back at her plate. "...блять...” Yelena’s heart starts beating so fast she can hear it ringing in her ears. "And you are sure, yes? Very extra sure?"
"Lift your placemat."
Yelena unceremoniously pushes the plate aside and moves the placemat. She doesn't need to see the entire ultrasound picture before she's on her feet and rushing over to Kate.
Yelena forces Kate's chair away from the table and attempts to kiss her wife but they fail miserably. They're both smiling too unbelievably wide. Yelena kneels before Kate's seat. Her hands naturally find her way to Kate's lap and from there slowly make her way to Kate's still flat stomach.
"How long have you known?"
"A little while."
"Why did you not tell me?!"
"Doesn't exactly feel like a Facetime conversation."
"Hmmm..."
Yelena knows there's a hint of reproach behind that one.
"It's okay. You're here now."
"I am."
Yelena leans in for a real kiss this time. The first real one they've shared in twenty days. Kate starts to melt into it when, suddenly, Yelena yanks her head and puts distance between them. She stares at Kate wide-eyed and stressed.
"We need to buy baby a fork."
Kate bursts out laughing.
"What is it with you and cutlery?"
"Because it is kind of important! You use it every day!"
Kate pecks Yelena's lips repeatedly as she chuckles.
"I think we have some time before we worry about that one."
Okay so now I’m taking the risk. Show me all the Kateyelena angst you’ve got. I’m ready.
If you’re taking prompts can you do angsty hurt/comfort kate/yelena where someone is severely injured and the other one is trying to help
Combining these two.
///
Let's set the scene:
-They've been engaged for about eight months. So...if we're keeping track, they moved in together 6 months after they met and Kate basically forced Yelena to show her the ring the next day which she's counting as the day they got engaged even though Yelena counts the day they got engaged as the day she "officially" proposed the way she wanted to which wasn't until a month and a half later. We're going by Kate's date here. This would put them at about 14 months together. That's 53 years in wlw time.
-I don’t think it comes as a surprise to anyone that Kate and Yelena's relationship can be a bit...explosive. Sometimes in the literal sense. They've been going through one of those periods where two people love each other deeply but can't seem to get on the same wavelength no matter how hard they try.
Yelena is hitting a stride with the Widows. Kate has found a deep and fulfilling sense of belonging in New York. She's kept Bishop Security doing the same ol' money making front her mother built but she's also created a ghost company parallel to it which benefits from all the resources of the real entity and helps her do all the Hawkeye stuff. It's kind of the best of both worlds. All of this (and more) has been forcing Kate and Yelena to juggle not just two very different lifestyles but also, more often than not, two opposite geographical locations/time zones as of late.
Okay. Scene set.
//
This weekend is meant to be for them and only them. Yelena is supposed to be in New York for four entire days. She'd told Kate she's exhausted from all the jumping around they've been doing lately and Kate convinced her they deserved time away. They'd take the helicopter up to a cabin in the Adirondacks, disconnect from the world, reconnect with each other, and have copious amounts of sex. It would be great. Yelena agreed. She was actually looking forward to it. Then the day to leave comes and Yelena receives an email.
In any other circumstance Yelena would've let this one go, would've kept her promise of alone time to Kate, but when she opens the file she recognizes one of the faces. One of the three Widows was a woman she'd been in the Red Room with, a girl she'd grown up with, trained with. Waking up is terrifying and Yelena knows having a familiar face there always helps. This was a friend. She has to go.
--
An animated Kate hops down the penthouse stairs with her bag slung over her shoulder.
"I'm texting the chef. Any preference for what you want when we ge-"
Kate looks up from her phone expecting to find her fiancee all packed and ready to go. Instead she finds Yelena's hair braided, her gun on her waist, and her vest on. Her face instantly drops.
"No. No. You promised me this weekend. Take those off."
"I can't."
"You can, you just won't."
"Kate, I know one of them."
"And you could see her after. I'm sure you'd have a great catch up. You'd teach her everything she needs to know about what life is like now that she's free to do whatever she wants. I'll book you the flight myself."
They glare at each other. Yelena closes the distance and stands centimeters away from Kate. She places her hands at either side of Kate's face and caresses her thumbs over her cheeks.
"I fly straight from Cologne to São Paulo so I see you in eight days, okay? I'm in New York for twelve hours on the nineteenth. Make reservations at Eleven Madison. You love that place. Just us. Promise."
When Yelena tries to kiss her, Kate pulls away.
"I can't keep being less important than them. I won't."
"I go before you say something else you will regret."
Kate scoffs.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"I am late, Kate. Я люблю тебя."
Yelena turns to leave and heads for the door.
"Yel, if you go I..."
"You what, Kate? Are we making threats now? Because I do not like those."
"And I don't like feeling abandoned so I guess we're even."
"If you feel so abandoned then maybe we should just end it..."
"Maybe we should."
"...then you will be really abandoned and it will not only be a feeling anymore."
"Fine."
"Perfect."
Kate slips off the ring on her finger and aggressively flicks it towards Yelena the way Clint had shown her to throw coins. Yelena easily catches it in the air.
"Maybe that girl you know will put it to better use."
There's fire behind Kate's eyes before she walks away, disappearing into her office after slamming the door. Yelena is about to chase after Kate when her phone rings.
"Yes...yes...I am on my way down." Yelena impulsively throws the knife she carried in her belt at the wall, easily impaling it into the plaster. She stares at the ring in her hand. For a moment she shrinks.
What the fuck even happened just now???
She hears her phone buzzing and knows it's just her impatient driver again.
"ебать все к черту."
Yelena swiftly pivots and exits, forcefully ramming the door behind her, and surely rattling the entire apartment along with it.
--
Even at their busiest, even at their angriest, even at their previous lowest they'd never gone this long without contact. Yelena had shown up at Kate's apartment less than 12 hours after they met on that rooftop and they had not stopped talking since. Even if they were simple check-in texts just to say "Good Morning/Night" or "I Love You/Miss You", Kate and Yelena were always there somehow. But the silence since Yelena left the previous day has been cacophonic.
--
By hour 18, Kate's stomach has turned upside down. Something is off. Her suspicions are justified when, after swallowing her pride, she checks in and gets no response despite making it clear to Yelena that this is now an explicit welfare check text. Yelena could hate her but she would never ignore that.
Kate tries calling next.
"Hi. Bab-Hmmm...Miss Yelena Belova?"
Kate pauses to contort her face knowing full well how fucking awkward that was.
"Haha. Sorry. I'm...uh...not sure what the protocol is once you call off an engagement with someone. Did...did we call off the engagement? I guess that's a conversation we should have, huh? When we're both not being dickheads. Anyway...I uhm...I haven't heard from you in a second and I get it. You might be mad at me because I'm VERY mad at you but I'm also VERY worried so if you could...maybe text me at least? Even if it's just the middle finger emoji haha. I'll take that as a sign of life and we can talk another time. I just wanna make sure you're alive and breathing and not like...captured and being horribly tortured or dead and currently being chopped into tiny little pieces before being fed to some super villain's exotic Siberian Tiger or something. You know. Run of the mill, normal, trained assassin stuff. Anyway. Call. Text. Email. Instagram DM. Facebook message. Snapchat. Slack. I'm checking all of those. Whatever is easiest just...DING DING! You can ping me whenever and I'll know you're still kicking. I lov...am I allowed to say that now that we're........whatever we are."
Kate takes the first real breath she has this entire message.
"Because...I do y'know? I do. More than you know. More than I've probably said. At least in a while. So please call me. I need to tell you that. Directly. I'll have my phone on me. Bye."
--
Twenty minutes pass.
Nothing.
That's when Kate calls Clint.
Within an hour they're on a plane to Germany.
Laura and Kate's team at Bishop Security are on the ground doing research while her and Clint work in the air.
--
By the time they land in Cologne, Kate hasn't heard from Yelena in 27 hours. They don't know much, but what they do know is that whatever info Yelena and the Widow retrieval team got was bogus and whoever fed it to them went through a lot of trouble to not only make it look extremely real but to also cover their tracks.
--
By hour 30, someone at B.S. managed to get a satellite visual on the plane Yelena, Alexei, Melina, and the team used for extractions. Kate and Clint go to the location and find a gaping hole on the side along with a sea of bullets.
They were ambushed as soon as they landed.
Kate's heart is so far up her throat she probably could reach into her mouth and touch it.
Clint gets their next lead. One of the tablets still works. They manage to access the entire file and find the address the group was originally headed to.
--
Kate and Clint scope the place. He's the first to spot Melina and Alexei tied inside. No sign of Yelena. After some quick recon they decide to go in bows blazing. They find zero resistance.
Kate runs up to Melina.
"Where is she?"
"They took her out back. About an hour ago. Heard gunshots. No one ever came back inside."
Melina's face and tone fill Kate with dread. She takes off running.
--
When Kate reaches the courtyard she finds four bodies laying on the ground. Three men, all covered in blood. All dead. The fourth is Yelena. She's also covered in blood. Her hands and feet are tied and by the marks on the floor it's clear that she tried to drag herself inside but didn't make it very far.
"No. No. No. No." Kate slides on the ground towards Yelena and flips her body upright. Her face is beaten black and blue. She can see a bullet wound that made it clean through the clavicle and there has to be another one in her torso based on the amount of blood in her midsection. "Come on. Don't do this. Hey. Hey. CLINT! I NEED HELP!"
Yelena stirs and coughs up blood then blinks her one good eye open.
"Kate Bishop."
"In the flesh."
"Wha..."
Yelena's words get cut off by another coughing fit.
"Shhh...don't talk. You always say "Russian made, built to last", right? Time to put your money where your big, stupid, stubborn, infuriating mouth is. Hang on."
Clint comes running out with Melina in tow.
"They have a medevac team en route already."
Melina digs for her knife and rips open Yelena's jacket and shirt. Three bullets that they can count. Clavicle, upper abdomen, and leg.
"Put pressure on it." Melina guides Kate's hand to lie atop Yelena's torn vest. "Clint, come. We need to see what we can find until they get here."
Kate looks around the courtyard then back at Yelena. She's still tied. Kate fishes for her knife and starts slicing through her restraints.
"Three guys with hands and feet tied. That's impressive, even for you."
"Are you trying to appeal to my ego so I don't die?"
"Whatever works. Is it working?"
"A little."
They look at each other, neither really knowing what to say.
"The tall, ugly one. Jacket, left hand pocket."
"What?"
"Go look."
"Melina said..."
"Go. I got it."
Yelena places her own hand atop the vest and hisses when she puts real firm pressure on it. She knew Kate had been timid about it for fear of hurting her. Yelena is actually applying the force needed to stop the bleeding.
Kate turns the guy over and digs through the pocket Yelena instructed. Her fingers hit something and her eyes expand tenfold. When her hand emerges, Kate is holding her engagement ring.
"Ugly bastard said he was going to give it to his girlfriend."
"You almost got yourself killed for a ring?"
"For your ring."
"I could kill you. I could fucking kill you."
"You kill me? You're still so funny, Kate Bishop."
"You're literally half dead. Right now. You're half dead."
"I guess you are right. Only time you might actually have a shot at it is right now. When I'm already half dead."
"You're such an asshole."
Yelena brings her forehead to rest on Kate's.
Kate gently cradles Yelena's face between her hands.
"I think I will not be traveling for a while."
"You're correct. You're staying put and I will tie you to the bed if necessary."
"That is a bit kinky, Kate Bishop...Does that mean I can come home then?"
Your tags about Yelena and Kate moving in and the 2 spoons just murdered me. Thanks for that Papi 😩 So when can we expect a cfau type of story for them? 😂
Forks! Where did spoons even come from? Haha. Not me having people begging me in the AO3 comments to finish CFAU and I'm here cranking out 1,500 ficlets no one asked for in an hour.
DISCLAIMER before we even do this: I don't read comics. I don't watch Marvel movies/shows. I don't know anything about these two characters beyond what I've seen in these five episodes of Hawkeye so I don't want to hear any "she wouldn't do or say that". I don't care lol. It's 3:20am, I'm up, I just wanted to expand on this one headcanon I talked about earlier. That's it. Don't even with me because I know y'all too well.
//
Let's quickly set the scene for where they are as humans/in their relationship in my head at this point. Fast forward six months after that dinner scene in 1x05. Kate is using Bishop Securities to help Yelena track other Widows and deprogram them. It's a Whole Thing now. Yelena is training Kate to be a more skilled fighter/overall well rounded "superhero adjacent" thing (or whatever it is you want to call what Hawkeye does). They're being good gays and about to Uhaul. Kate surprised Yelena with the key to an apartment that has a view of Rockefeller "...so that come Christmas time you can see the tree every day." It got her laid. More than once. So many times. Okay, that's the basic fork headcanon backstory.
Now, they're supposed to be moving into the apartment but before they can go in Yelena stops them at the door and she pulls out a blindfold.
"Last time that came out I had bruised ribs for three weeks."
"I am not teaching you how to actually LISTEN during a fight this time, am I?"
"I don't know....There was also that one time you told me we were going to get our take out and ten minutes later drove the car into the Hudson."
"Escaping a sinking vehicle is a necessary survival skill. My father says you learn faster and better when you are not expecting the lesson. You made it out in four minutes and twenty two seconds. It was not a bad time. For a first timer."
"What's in there? Is there a seven foot man that I'll need to fight with my hands tied behind my back?"
"No."
"Ninja stars that'll come flying full speed at me?"
"No."
"Uh...a pissed off alien trying to retrieve a priceless artifact that I'll need to defend?"
Yelena hangs her head back laughing then gets on her toes to kiss her much too tall girlfriend.
"No angry aliens. Trust me, yes?"
"Always." Kate smiles and steals another kiss.
"Close your eyes then. No blindfold."
"Yeah, let's hold on the blindfold. Still too soon on that one."
"Are they closed?"
"Tight."
Kate can hear Yelena open the door. Yelena holds her hand then guides Kate inside. By her vague memory of the layout, Kate can tell they're heading to the kitchen.
"Okay. Move this way. More this way. A little this way. One step that way." Yelena keeps adjusting Kate trying to place her in just the perfect spot. "Open them."
Kate opens her eyes and on the empty counter there's...two forks.
"Two forks. Because we two people now. Not just one person anymore."
Kate takes a moment to internalize the forks and the immense meaning they hold. She stares at them for a long beat then turns to Yelena, eyes brimming with tears.
"You hate them." Yelena's face falls."I knew I should've asked Laura for recommendations instead of Clin-" Yelena is cut off by Kate's lips on hers.
"I don't hate them. Not even a little."
"Okay? Me and Clint did good job then?"
"The fact that it took two of the world's most dangerous killing machines to pick forks is...impressive but yes, you did an amazing job."
--
Hours later, when they're sweaty and tired after unloading the moving truck, they make Mac & Cheese with Sriracha like that first night.
They have no chairs yet because they didn't bother packing anything except for the one pot they needed. It's all the energy they can muster. As soon as it's done cooking, Kate ungracefully slides her body down the cabinets directly next to the stove. That's as far as she can move. Pizza Dog promptly finds his place next to her and stares with his one good eye, begging for a serving. Kate relents.
Yelena might always be in control in most other aspects of their relationship but she's also the Smol to Kate's Tol so she's resigned herself to often being what she learned Americans call "Little Spoon". When Kate rests her back against the cabinets, Yelena shamelessly sits between her girlfriend's legs and presses her back to Kate's chest. You'd think after six months of this, Kate would be used to feeling Yelena's skin against hers but it still makes her stumble and whatever thing she was rambling about at seventy five miles an hour gets derailed for half a second.
"Do I make you nervous, Kate Bishop?" Yelena tilts her head to look up at Kate with a playful grin while she shoves a forkful of macaroni into her mouth.
"Pffft...me? Nervous? By you?...." The fake cocky façade breaks. "Yeah. A lot. All the time, actually. Like, constantly. Angry swarm of wired butterflies right up in here." Kate points to her stomach. They look at a each other for a long moment then burst out laughing. Yelena pulls Kate's chin down and they kiss.
"You really like the forks, yes?"
"They're good forks. Top notch." Kate tells her with a smile.
"Wait till you see spoons. Well, they are same as forks, but spoons. They are in box somewhere. There is knives too. Clint and I got the whole set."
"Wow. You guys did all that by yourselves?"
"I am sensing some sarcasm there." Kate shrugs and smiles. "You are lucky you are sexy or I kill you."
"Yeah yeah, I've heard that one before."
"It is truth. I could. You would not even know what happened. But I would never."
"'Never' is a big word. What if I eat the last fry one day? Or accidentally break one of your guns?"
"Then I just divorce you. But never kill you."
"Oh, so you're planning on marrying me? Is that what I'm hearing? Because, see, in order to divorce someone you sorta have to marry them first."
"Clint might have helped me buy other things."
Yelena shrugs. Kate's eyes go wide.
"What does that mean?!"
Yelena shrugs again.
"It means that Clint is...what you say..."Grumpy"...but Avengers get good deals on expensive things. He is great to take places."
"Baby, you can't just say that and then not..."
Yelena kisses her and jumps to her feet.
"Soooo many boxes left. Look at all the boxes." Yelena goes to work on the overflowing one on the counter. Kate also stands. She flips Yelena over and pins her again the counter.
"You can't say things like that and then do the Spy Deflecting Thing. That's just being a tease."
"I do not think you have ever complained about that before." Yelena tells her as she easily slips out from where Kate held her down and heads for the living room.
Kate follows, reaches for her arm, pulls her towards the wall, and pushes her against it face first. Yelena's cheek is now making contact with the cold paint. It's rough but not forceful, just enough. Kate knows she's pushing all the right buttons.
"Kate Bishop do not start things you cannot finish."
In one swift motion Yelena has not only reversed their positions - Kate now being the one tacked against the wall - but she has also managed to hold one of Kate's hands above her head while her other hand teases right over the edge of the tattered training shorts Kate had thrown on earlier.
"Oh, I can finish."
Kate stares at Yelena defiant. Yelena's hand slides under the elastic waistband.
--
They give the apartment a proper christening that night.
Despite Yelena's desire for an intricate proposal, Kate Bishop can be quite convincing (read: annoying) and Yelena was talked into showing the ring she had purchased that week soon after they woke the next morning.
I know that tear away dress comes back at some point and it ain't a superhero suit it's hiding next time 😏
1) Unless I'm crazy I don't think it was a tear away dress. At least I never read it that way. I think Yelena just...ripped it? Which is...uh...hotter. ANYWAYYYY...
2) Y'ALL ALWAYS TRY TO GOAD ME INTO WRITING YOUR FILTH AND I WILL NOT FALL FOR IT ...but...like...yeah sure...I'll give you filth adjacent and your mind can fill in the gaps.
Kate can be a dimwit but she can also clean up. Well. Too well. Distractingly well if you ask Yelena. When Eleanor went down for all her legal shit Kate had to step up and become a real adult overnight. She was now the person in charge of Bishop Security and that came with a lot of responsibilities, including the lame ones like the inevitable social events.
That night was one of those. There was a stuffy gala Kate's VP insisted she HAD to, at the very, least show her face at. It sounded like a nightmare but Kate promised an hour of her time. No more and then she was out of there. It was such a drag that she told Yelena stay home. She'd be back before primetime was even over. No point in forcing her girlfriend into a room of men she would run the risk of murdering if she didn't need to be there when all Kate was going to do was grab one drink and shake a few hands.
While Kate is getting ready Yelena is in the kitchen making food with the dogs being...Yelena...
A while later, Kate walks in wearing this little number:
"Kate, that is dangerous."
"What? What is dangerous?"
Kate looks around, genuinely confused.
"That dress. Dangerous. You can not walk in here, without warning, wearing it, and then want to walk out just like that."
Kate chuckles then struts over to her girlfriend and places a gentle kiss on her lips, gentle enough that it won't ruin her make-up. Yelena's hands sneak around Kate's waist and pulls her flush against her skin.
"I'm already running late and the car's downstairs but I had a feeling you'd have a soft spot for this one so I...had them put a special surprise in it."
"What surprise?"
Yelena kisses Kate's neck and Kate leans her head back offering more of her skin. Yelena takes that as an open invitation and starts to kiss down from Kate's collarbone into her cleavage.
"It's not a surprise if I tell you." Kate regains her composure and takes a step back. "Patience."
"I hate surprises, Kate."
"I think you'll like this one."
Kate plants one final kiss on Yelena's lips then turns to walk away.
"It is good surprise, yes?"
"You won't have any complaints."
Later that night Yelena comes to find that there was a lot less hiding under the dress than she'd like with all the men Kate had been around but that, to her advantage, it was all easier to access than she thought.

Kate is never ENTIRELY comfortable with the pigs as babysitters for Baby Nat. It seems SELF-EVIDENTLY a bad idea. Yet when Yelena asks if she would rather leave them with human Alexei…? That is also obviously not going to end well! He tried to teach Nat how to break down a gun! Worse! She learned! She can’t tie her own shoelaces but she can field clean a glock. So the pigs it is.
"Mama, look."
*Breaks down the gun in 20 seconds flat because like mother like daughter*
"Deda showed."
Alexei is all proud.
"She is good, huh?"
"She is faster than me." Yelena sort of nods.
Meanwhile, Kate is looking at all three of them HORRIFIED.
"WHO GAVE THE GUN TO THE THREE YEAR OLD?!"
"There is no bullets. That would be crazy." Alexei gets all defensive. "No shooting until she is at least five. That is when Yelena learned. Best age. Their hands are limber."
"THE FIVE YEAR OLD IS NOT LEARNING HOW TO SHOOT! TELL HIM THE FIVE YEAR OLD IS NOT LEARNING HOW TO SHOOT!"
Yelena shrugs.
"Is it that terrible? I learned and I turned out fine." Kate glares at her. "Kate says no shooting, daddy."
"Wanna shoot, mama. Pew pew pew."
Nat takes off running with a piece of the gun pretending she's shooting it around the room. Kate stares daggers at Yelena and she already knows she's getting the scolding of a lifetime later.
I remembered Yelena already has a dog at this point and I thought it’d be fun to give them pets with personalities that matched the other. I have no idea where this is set.
Mostly I’m hoping sending you stuff is a decent distraction if nothing else. Feel better.

They get together for a puppy playdate at a dog park Kate knows. Finding the Widows takes time and Yelena decides to stay in NYC while looking for the next ones so she brings Fanny to stay with her. Fanny’s young, not a puppy but only just, excitable as hell and spends her time trying to get Lucky to run around with her. He’s older and less inclined to hyper activity but indulges her in short periods, stopping often just to lay on a decent patch of grass he finds.
“She’s so cute, how long have you had her?”
“Just 5 months now. She too, I rescue like Lucky.”
“From like a dog fighting ring? Or a cartel? A secret HYDRA cell group you took down and she was one of their look out dogs? OH, OR-“
“Adoption day for Humane Society, Kate Bishop. Special offer, no fees.”
Kate calmed, a little disappointed.
“Oh, that’s cool too.”
“I know, right!? You go in, find pet and they let you keep. She had shot so I pay for nothing, pretty awesome. Just sign papers and Fanny mine now.”
Lucky comes back and sits by Kate, not tired but content to just be still. Fanny’s back with a ball she for sure stole from another dog, puts her front paws on Yelena’s knees so she’s eye level and can’t be ignored.
“I don’t like it when you beg, Fanny. Get down.”
“What’d you just say?”
“I scold, in Russian. Is how she know I am mad.”
Yelena looks at Fanny with exaggerated disapproval and Kate can't help it, she kisses her. She turns to Fanny, reaches over and wiggles the ball out of her mouth.
“She’s just trying to play fetch. Come on, Fanny!”
Kate bolts off with Fanny right behind. She runs after Fanny almost as often as the dog goes after the ball, trying to get her to drop it so she can actually throw it again. Lucky hops on the bench, lays with his head on Yelena’s lap and watches them with her.
“This is best, Lucky the Pizza Dog. We relax.”
She pats his belly twice and pets the fur behind his ears. Watches Kate and Fanny circle each other and run around with a smile.
--
Technically they're both the unhinged one depending on the scenario but Kate holds that title most often in my head.
Yelena rubs the back of Lucky's ears which, in turn, immediately perk up.
"What if we trade places? You come to live with me and Fanny go to live with Kate?"
Lucky barks once.
"That would be much more relaxing for everyone, yes? Especially you and me."
Lucky barks again.
"Maybe we can negotiate deal. Think of terms. We discuss later."
Yelena looks up to find Kate playing some version of tag with her dog. Fanny chases her while Kate tries to evade and once Fanny catches her then it's Kate's turn to chase Fanny.
"Is she always like this? Always...so much?"
Lucky looks at Yelena and barks once.
"Yes. I thought so."
Yelena goes back to rubbing his ear as she watches Kate throw Fanny's ball across the park.
"Can I tell you secret Mr. Pizza?"
Yelena looks down at him. Lucky meets her eyes and tilts his head to the opposite side, letting her know she's listening.
"I think I am falling in love with Kate Bishop."
//
"Go get it girl! Go!"
Kate throws the ball and Fanny chases after it full speed but on her way to retrieve the toy, the pup gets distracted by an even more intriguing thing: a Yorkie that casually strolled by.
"No! NOOO!"
Fanny takes off after the small dog. Kate follows Fanny and it becomes a pursuit train.
"Don't you dare! That dog is the size of your paw. Fanny!"
Fanny now thinks it's a game and runs faster. The Yorkie begins to whimper as she cowers away.
Kate hears Yelena's voice boom from across the park. Fanny comes to a grinding halt. Kate has no idea what Yelena is saying because the words pour out of her in Russian but it doesn't sound pleasant or polite. Whatever it is, it's effective because Fanny immediately turns and walks back to Kate.
"Sorry!" Kate screams to the owner of the Yorkie while smiling awkwardly. "She's normally great! Promise!"
Kate walks away with Fanny as far and fast as she can. She puts enough distance between them and the Yorkie's owner before Fanny pulls them to a nearby bench. Kate relents and they sit. Kate looks over to where Yelena is seemingly deep in conversation with Lucky.
"She's kinda scary, huh?"
Kate bends down to give Fanny head scratches. The excited pup licks her face.
"But in like a weird, sexy, scary kinda way, right? Probably not for you, I guess. No. Not for you for sure. Not for you."
Fanny does a few zooms around the bench then flops on her back at Kate's feet, exposing her stomach to the woman who immediately begins to rub the furry belly.
"Do you want to hear the scariest part about your mom tho? The scariest part is that she's making me fall crazy in love with her."'
Not sure if it’s your vibe but I read that Yelena had her hair braided in your latest fic and all I could think about was her teaching Kate to do it and it becoming something of a routine that Kate braids Yelena’s hair before she goes off on a mission.
I know you’re probably bombarded with requests so it’s okay if this doesn’t get done. Hope you’re doing well and that you’ve left the hospital!
Okay but...the intimacy of this? Also the devotion on Kate's part of waking up earlier than she should so she can spend the time braiding Yelena's hair? And Yelena knowing it's going to be A Process because everything with Kate is A Process so she starts setting her alarms earlier than she needs to as well but not minding because she'd never complain about spending more time with Kate??? PHEWWW...
After some trial and error they find the perfect spot by their bedroom's balcony door. Initially, Kate sat on the stool from her vanity but they quickly realize this has become an important part of their lives so they set out to buy a proper, nice, comfy chair. Even coming to the decision of what chair to buy is A Situation but after they see it in place they know every second of bickering (and the headlock or two) has been worth it. The mid-century inspired, deep blue Wingback chair with the tall, strong back, the deep seat, and the curved arms is the perfect way to round up their new ritual.
Yelena sits between Kate's legs with her hair down, often fresh out the shower, frequently also naked. Kate is a fan of the naked days because not only does she get to watch Yelena's back flex as she moves around but she gets to plants kisses on the bare skin whenever she feels like it. It's a great incentive.
Kate starts watching tutorials online so she can switch it up. Yelena never really knows what she's going to get every morning. Some she hates, but mostly she loves them if only because Kate braided them.
Most days Yelena sits quietly for the 15-20 or so minutes that it takes Kate to brush, detangle, and braid her hair. She simply listens to Kate ramble about whatever it is she woke up thinking about. It never fails to surprise her how many words Kate can form despite the time of day.
The process is mostly straight forward and uneventful but it does have its variations depending on what's going on in their lives. If they're arguing Kate will pull just a little harder than she should. Yelena will tilt her head back to glare at her and curse in Russian while rubbing the spot in her scalp Kate has just yanked on before Kate swats her hand away. If it was one of those "hot and bothered" days where it's impossible for them to keep their hands off each other, one misplaced glance and that braid will definitely need to be remade once they are done in bed. If it's one of those spirals where Yelena's demons come out for a haunt, Kate will slide off the chair and hold her while she cries.
Yelena finds an even deeper appreciation for the whole thing once their daughter is born. The braiding tradition continues with Natasha so it wasn't uncommon for Yelena to walk into their bedroom to find Kate sitting on The Chair, rebraiding the little girl's hair after a shower or a particularly rowdy afternoon of playing with the dogs. As Natasha grew that spot is also where they would sit and talk about school, life, and eventually boys. Yelena loved to watch them as they did.
After Kate dies, Yelena never braids her hair again. What she does do is sit across The Chair for hours and tries to remember all the times she saw Kate perched on it, remember her voice, her laugh, her stories. That chair witnessed them at their barest and once Kate is gone, it's the biggest piece of her Yelena has left.
