Festival of Death Week 2
Festival of Death Week 2: Heyho watched how the townsfolk enjoyed the festival. It was really something to watch. He loved how happy they looked, how they enjoyed the sounds and the lights all alround them. Heyho really liked how the whole festival looked in the rays of sunset. Gave them something magical. Or maybe something very pretty, after all that all wasn't magic. Or was it? He had no idea. What even was magic to begin with? While trying to solve all those important questions Fuzzbutt curled up around his handler, watching him think and display so many questionmarks on his display, the crimson rook thought it might break. His companion, Finbar, seemed less worried and looked around. As Heyho, he really enjoyed the festival. The whole thing already went on for a week. That was really exciting. Finbar had never seen something like this before and all the people and Kukuris. He and his buddy Fuzzbutt also were really amazed by all those preparations and parties. This was all quite new to both of them. Fuzzbutt just handled the excitement better. Or he was just not interested. A bunch of townsfolk gathered close to them. They seemed to listen to someone who talked about Death. Finbar tilted his head a bit confused. Though it felt familiar and somehow soothing. But he couldn't understand what it was that made this feelings. Fuzzbutt lifted his head and nudged their handler, to stop thinking. His display lightened up for a brief moment, then he turned his head and looked at the people. He stood up and tilted his head, like his kukuri did. Fuzzbutt rolled his eyes and they went to the people, trying to find out what they were really talked about. “It has been a week and she didn't appear.” said the speaker, looking in the round, he seemed very serious. Finbar wasn't sure he liked him. But well, that wasn't important now. “Maybe she will after the whole festival.” Some people started to voice their agreement. “We shouldn't worry too much now. Like you said it has been only a week, Death surely will join us after it. In the last week maybe.” An old man raised his voice and looked at the group slightly annoyed. One of his kukuri, well Finbar guessed it was one of his, a hazel with blanket and green eyes, growled in agreement. Defending his handlers opinion, before it even got attacked. Fuzzbutt twitched his tail and looked at this handler. He seemed like a grumpy guy. Though what they talked about made him curious. This was interesting. Who was this Death? They couldn't be talking about literally dying. That would've been kinda weird. Heyho seemed to be confused as well, he didn't really understood it either. But he thought that they had to talk about the process of dying. He didn't even felt that calming feeling, the two kukuris felt when Death got mentioned. The people kept arguing and talking. Heyho looked at his kukuris and displayed a questionmark, again, on his display face. The kukuris looked at him and seemed as confused. But Finbar snarled, so they would listen again. The old handler seemed to have given up, after the speaker had tried to rally up the group again. And successful at that as well. “We should search Death!” Fuzzbutt tilted his head more and looked at Heyho who displayed more question marks on his face. Why would they search 'Death'? That was the only question on their handlers mind. Finbar and Fuzzbutt couldn't fully agree with this message, but also weren't too keen on saying no. And still they had no real idea why. The group agreed with loud noises and shouts. Heyho looked around and tried to find someone who looked like they could explain this whole thing to him. But right now most people were interested in forming search parties and making sure where to go first. Fuzzbutt followed his head turns and grumbled, judging every single person that his handler could think of asking. While the fin horned ebon hazel searched himself for someone to help them. One Kukuri here could surely be a helpful guide, just to answer those questions. He looked at a hazel with elf ears. He was laying on the ground, not moving. Finbar perked his ears up and walked towards the lazy fella. Sniffing the air and trying to ignore the people running around them, packing their things and making her kukuris travel ready. And still the elf ear didn't move at all. He seemed to not even breathe. Finbar looked at it and jumped back, as a weird metal sound startled him. He looked up and stared at the warrior, who eyed him for a brief moment. Heyho joined him, and of course fuzzbutt as well, he never left his handlers side. Finbar's Handler still had a lot of question marks on his display face, now probably even one more. The new guy after all was worth at least a question. The warrior looked around and sat down on the back of his kukuri, still there was no movement in the animal, which made Finbar feel a bit uneasy. “Seems like I missed something. What is going on here?” Heyho's display brightened up with a huge red exclamation mark, before he started telling what they just heard via pictures on said display. Accompied by some sounds and voice overs from the guy before, which played along side pictures of said person. Finbar stared at it amazed. It always looked cool. The crimson rook on the other hand just waited until he was done, that was far too hectic for his taste. But their handler was excited and confused, so it was just natural for him to be a bit more hectic than before. The knight watched him explain, he seemed to understand everything directly. That wasn't the usual thing. Finbar twitched with his tail, the moment Heyho finished his explanation. “Oh, Death. Nice idea to search for her.” Heyho's display was again covered with a huge question mark. The knight raised an eyebrow with a cold smile. “Death is one of the two sisters. They are the origin to our little fellas.” he patted his kukuri, which still showed no reaction. Finbar shivered and took a step back. Heyho tilted his head. Noticing this as well. “Life and Death. They created all Kukuris and last year, Death showed herself to save the Prairies.” He pointed towards some Prairies that got ready for the travel with their companions. The crimson rook looked around and twitched with his tail, before he looked to his friend the fin horn. That explained a lot. Especially while they felt so drawn to the idea of Death. Even though it still felt weird to think about wanting to meet Death. They had other ideas about this word. The knight smiled and raised his eyebrows, the moment Heyho sat down in front of him. He turned the question mark into a exclamation mark, before turning this one into blinking points. Finbar knew what it meant, he wasn't too sure if the knight knew it, but the next moment he started explaning what happened last year. Finbar and Fuzzbutt layed down next to their handler and listened. He told about the Festival, how at the end Death appeared, with the Quest of saving the Prairies out of their safe, but dying home. While the towns people already started to go, to find Death once more and ease their fear that she will not apper again, the three listened to the knight telling them all the stories of what the rescue mission of the prairies brought with them. It was amazing. Finbar never knew that there was that much history to those feathered friends. He always assumed they just had been there all the time. In a sense that was of course true, but this was really engaging. He stood up and chirped at his handler, who again let the question mark appear. The ebon hazel chirped again and pulled at his coat. Fuzzbutt looked at him a bit irritated, until he understood and sighed annoyed. He had no inetntions of searching for Death. So many already did. But Finbar really wanted to take part in that. They could be useful and maybe they could get something out of it. Meeting a god could be useful in the end, they might get a wish granted or something cool like that. But nothing of that convinced the fuzzy butted rook. Though in the end the ebon hazel wasn't really interested in convincing his companion, he just needed his handler on his side. And lucky him, Heyho loved that idea. His face displayed a smiley emoji, before he started clapping in agreement. Fuzzbutt sighed even louder, but the decision was made. The handler climbed onto his fuzzy kukuri and the smiley got a bigger smile. Double Point, big D was surely one of Heyho's favourite expressions. Finbar grinned and started following the other townspeople. Heyho looked back at the knight who got down from his kukuri, which still layed there still as a stone. An arrow pointing towards the direction finbar took appeared on his display, followed by a question mark. This repeated again and again, until the knight responded. The knight looked at him and smiled. “I am not sure if I find any interest in this search, nor do I belive I would be of great help. Without a monster to slay, I can be quite useless.” Heyho tilted his head, then changed the hologram on his display to a small man, cheering on. A cold laugh came from the other handler, Fuzzbutt wanted to tuck his ears in. He really felt not safe with him around, this laugh was just another warning sign, which his handler of course ignored. Friggin good hearted stupid wonderful idiot. It took quite some convincing, but in the end Heyho of course got the knight to join them. For a moment he wanted to offer Finbar, who already ran up ahead, which he of course didn't really realized, for him to ride, but the knight tapped against the hazel kukuri's head once. Then he took a step back, while the elf eared kukuri slowly rose to its feet. It felt almost unnatural how smooth and still slow the movement was. One small jump and the knight sat on the kukuris back. “Let's go and see if we find the sister everyone is looking for.” Heyho's display showed a thumbs up, then they started to follow the ebon hazel, who already had a huge headstart. For a while it was a quiet ride. Nothing happened, the people split up from time to time, to cover more ground and Heyho watched them search. He himself was not sure what they even were searching for, but the Knight gave him tipps and hints how Death looked. While they looked around, they slowly came across a huge meadow. Nothing to see for miles. Heyho seemed a bit more sad than Fuzzbutt expected. After all they just learned about Death and how important she was. Even though they knew the festival for a bit longer than her, but well. The knight looked around and stopped with his kukuri. He seemed to have found a clue or maybe an idea where Death could be hiding. Fuzzbutt watched him think it out, while still looking around to find Finbar, who still had the headstart. But now it was harder to see where the dork went. The finhorn kukuri looked around for his handler, he seemed to have stayed behind. He had followed some people and now they searched the woods for Death. Running around, some even shouted for her, even though Finbar was very sure, she wouldn't answer like that. Some other Kukuris and especially Prairies had started calling out for her more in thought than with their voice, hoping to be heard that way. He twitched his ears and looked around, searching for his companion and his handler. It took a while, but he smelled them and stormed back, the way he came from until he reached a meadow. There in the distance he saw people and two kukuri. Those must be them! Heyho watched the Knight, who started riding towards the mountains. He followed them, Fuzzbutt eyed the hazel elf ear, while they walked. A loud screech let all of them perk up and they turned their head towards the ebon hazel, who stormed towards them with a loud happy screech. Fuzzbutt sighed deeply inside. This was so annoying. But at least he was back with them. “Your kukuri seems really happy finding you again.” the knight mentioned, while he started riding further again. Heyho used a happy smiley and followed, after patting Finbar for a moment. They looked around and followed a small path that led between two mountain sides into a dry valley. Heyho looked around, while the knight got off his kukuri and made the rest of the entrance by foot. Fuzzbutt followed, Finbar looked around amazed. What was that? He looked confused at this handler and companion, who both shrugged. Then he turned to the knight and his kukuri. The elf eared one had layed down again. Not moving at all, while the knight sat down and looked to them. He patted the ground next to him. “Sit down.” Heyho got off Fuzzbutt, who protested for a brief moment, but he couldn't stop the curiousity of his handler. Finbar followed his handler, who sat down and let a question mark appear again on his display. The knight smiled and waited for the other two kukuri to lay down as well. “This is the valley where the prairies were found.” Heyho's face displayed an excalamation point. This was interesting! History all around him. All around them. He looked at his kukuri and stroked their fur for a moment, before returning his attention back to the knight, who had closed his eyes and seemed to meditate. He was still very confused. What were they doing here? Waiting? Maybe they were praying. Though Heyho didn't knew how to pray for her. His kukuri seemed at a loss as well with this. Fuzzbutt just yawned and looked around, while Finbar tried to decipher what the knight and his kukuri were doing. It didn't take long for said handler to realize that his actions were confusing to the rest of them. So he started explaining, without opening his eyes. “Why would we be able to find a God? The God could decide herself if she wanted to be found or not. And I guess, when you want to find a God, you go to a place where she has shown herself before. Hence why we are here.” Heyho tilted his head and Fuzzbutt let out an annoyed sigh. Just waiting around sounded boring. But Finbar made him shut his grumpyness fast. This was a holy place after all! Sort of. Somehow. He thought. He wasn't too sure. But it seemed important! And if they wanted a favor from Death, they would've to seem sincere. So he made sure, he did what the Prairies and Kukuris did. He had no idea what they had prayed for, after all they did it in their head, but at least they seemed calm and like they had some deep wishes. So he closed his eyes, while Fuzzbutt just watched the whole thing a bit uninterested. “So I say, we wait and pray for her to come by. Well, your kukuris will. Or, let me correct your kukuri, your crimson boy just made a run for it.” Heyho raised his head a bit and followed the knights gaze, to his crimson fluffboy, who walked around and explored the place. There was no stopping him. Everyone knew it. So Heyho decided to try praying. He had no idea what he had to say or well, think, but I mean, Finbar seemed interested in meeting Death, so he just repeated the question if Death would mind to join them, in his head. In every language he could find and in any way you could ask it. The knight watched him and smiled. His screen had turned black, nothing happened and he was almost as motionless as the elf eared hazel. And so they waited. Let the time pass. While one kukuri searched, one prayed and one didn't move a muscle. It would've been foolish to believe that Death would appear. None of them really expected it probably, but the disappointed couldn't be erased just by the thought. But maybe, it wasn't fully useless to at least spend a bit of time focussing on her and enjoy the place she was seen once. The group had stopped praying after some hours and explored the rest of the old valley. Heyho listened to the stories the knight told him about the events from last year. He knew more than all of them thought, even though he didn't take part in it. Finbar smiled while they left the valley. Fuzzbutt of course carried Heyho again, but this time Finbar had something to carry as well. All those cool rocks from the valley. Now Death was always somehow close to him!
Festival of Death Week 1
-Lets write a bit into the void. But well, I am a writer, so there should be more written Art on my blog, so I start with some Kukuri stuff, maybe I'll throw some nice own things sooner or later as well. Enjoy- content stuff i probably need to mention: drinking Festival of death 2018 Week 1 Beloyum wasn't too keen on visiting the festival this year again. Last year was already a huge annoyance to him. Too many people and Kukuri, too much noise and the food was mediocre at best. He was obviously ignoring the fact that he loved the snacks, due to him liking every snack, but it wasn't important. Revan and his little Rascal obviously stayed home. The little one shouldn't get too excited right now, after catching a cold and giving Prestoly a hard time helping him deal with it, the two Kukuri's decided that the little one shouldn't visit the Festival the first week. A lot of people meant a lot of difficulties and during new year they already had trouble keeping him safe around the fireworks. Well Revan had the trouble. Beloyum didn't really understood what the problem was that time. So they agreed that Beloyum would go with their handler, Revan was a much better dad when it came to just sitting around and doing nothing. So after their handler had finally decided to go, the hazel Kukuri followed him, making sure someone was there if he got drunk and couldn't find home again. Normally Lou could be trusted with this, but right now she had a lot to do on her own and Prestoly made clear he didn't want to bother anyone. After all it was just a chill evening at the festival. So they went. Most of the way, the hazel Kukuri stayed a bit behind. It felt so much more natural. Though right now he walked slowly next to his handler, who seemed also not too interested in hanging out at the festival. But the call for booze was always stronger. And deep down surely also the call to socialize a bit more. Prestoly disliked huge crowds, they reminded him too much of bad happenings in his past, as he liked to explain it to Lou. He never got much further. But in the end he needed others to keep healthy in a way. A healthy social life made a healthy person. Beloyum understood that and was happy that his handler at least found some excuses to go there as a cover up. It wasn't like they hadn't any booze at home, of course they did. But well, not quite like some proper booze as his handler said it. Both stopped at the start of the festival. A small petal covered archway was followed by a long street through the village filled with small booths and many, many people. It was the main way through the village, the sidestreets surely had even more interesting stuff to discover. Beloyum looked around, twitching his ears at the loud sounds surrounding him and he glanced at his handler, who was instantly more uncomfortable than before. His hand twitched in his pocket and he looked around more often than usual, with an unease that only came up when a lot of stimuli was around him. Especially from other people. The hazel rook tilted his head, before putting it down onto his handlers shoulder for a brief moment, waiting on him to breath calmly. Kara told him once he should make sure there was enough pressure on him, so he wouldn't fall into a panic attack, like cuddling, but Beloyum never understood that kind of social contact. His handler wasn't the cuddle type, so it couldn't be helpful in making him more calm to put him into a more stressfull thing. So they waited for a moment. A melody started to play somewhere, Beloyum couldn't figure out where it came from, but his attention got ripped away from it, the moment his handler started walking again. They went over the festival. Checking out the booths. Prestoly bought the hazel rook some small snacks, while searching for a booth where he could get some drinks. Beloyum chewed on the meat and smiled. The whole festival looked really beautiful. Everything was covered in petals and lights, the moon was outshined by it and not even the stars were as pretty as the festival. While walking through the main street, Prestoly started to smile from time to time, but as soon as he felt like there were again too many people around, it disappeared. The hazel rook followed his handler, smelling the air for booze and making sure that the people didn't came too close to his handler. He wanted to keep him safe. And comfortable. A small child ran around Beloyum and cheered. The hazel kukuri twitched with his tail and watched how it ran around, it seemed like it searched a hiding place. “Don't care that much.” Beloyum raised his head to Prestoly and tilted it. He looked at his kukuri and then looked around. “Just try to find the booth we need.” They kept walking, being disturbed for a moment by another child that ran passed them with loud noises. Yep, the first one definatly played with the second one. Beloyum sniffed the air and sneezed. That was the smell he was searching for, as much as it felt awful in his nose. Prestoly looked at his kukuri and then followed him, along the booths, ignoring all the people trying to sell small trinkets or tasty food. Sometimes even very creative food that looked more like art than food. They stopped at a small booth. An old lady looked up to both of them and smiled. “I almost expected you to ditch this day as well.” Her voice was so melodic. Even though Beloyum disliked the smell, it calmed him down. Prestoly sat down on a chair in front of the booth, while the hazel Kukuri layed down around it. “The days weren't right.” “Yes, yes. I believe so. The weather was lovely though.” She smiled and poured a drink. He looked at her and nod a bit. “Yes, it was wonderful to work outside. Is the business well?” “Solid.” She put the drink on the counter and then looked to Beloyum. “And for you some peachy water?” The hazel kukuri chirped in approval and she smiled, leaving them for a moment, which Prestoly used to take a sip of his drink. His face relaxed almost instantly and he sighed in relieve. “Still the best you can get.” he muttered between sips. He glanced at his kukuri, who looked up to him and twitched his ears. Prestoly smiled briefly, patting his leg and Beloyum took the invite to put his head on his lap, getting some scratches behind the ears. He grinnend and enjoyed the attention. The night felt so calm and soothing, even though people around them chattered, bought stuff and enjoyed the festivities. The old lady came back with a bowl and put it in front of the hazel rook, who lifted his head as fast as he could. Whatever the festival had to offer, nothing could or would beat the peachy water. Prestoly chuckled quietly and the old lady took care of some other customers, while the handler and his kukuri enjoyed the drinks. She glanced at them and smirked slightly. “I can assume it tastes good.” The handler looked at her and nod. “It is perfect, as always.” Beloyum chirped in agreement and wagged his tail, taking another mouthful. She joined them at the table, after it got more quiet around her booth again and smiled. “Did you watch the dancing already?” “Ah they are at it again. With all the fire and so on?” She nod and looked to the sky. “But this time they got some more people together, so not just fire is the main attraction.” The old man raised an eyebrow and took a sip, looking at her. “A handful of bender joined in. Last year the firebender must've impressed some people.” Beloyum licked his snout and watched them talk more about the attractions and grinned. His gaze was attracted by some hovering petals in the wind. The hazel kukuri watched them hover over the ground, carried around them by the wind and watched one twirl directly in front of him. He slowly raised a hand and watched it carefully. Waiting for the perfect moment, he stared at the petals and then: Striked! The petals flew all around him, up in the air and he glanced under his hands. No petal. Darnit! Music started playing and they looked up. A small group of people walked through the streets, playing music and dancing. The old lady smiled and got up, as more customers approached. Prestoly pet his kukuri, who watched the musicians and didn't seem to be too happy about it. The handler took another sip and watched the small parade. The musicians tried to include people around them into their little dance and musical number. To Beloyums surprise the people really liked it, for him it seemed more like an annoyane, especially the sound. “They really got a lot better with their number, didn't they?” Prestoly looked up at a man and nod a bit. “I have to agree.” The man sat down and grinnend at them. His armor reflected the lights around them, but it wasn't blinding at all. As if the armor absorbed part of the light. The hazel kukuri looked at the new person and watched him drink a sip. Another kukuri, with elf ears, joined them. Laying down behind the new person, while Prestoly seemed to not be that interested in the new kukuri, Beloyum couldn't just ignore that new kukuri. It smelled immensly funny, as if it had burned itself somewhere. “But I am not a big fan of all the festivities.” “Just here for the drinks?” “Partly.” The man in the armor smiled amused and leaned back in his chair. His kukuri snarled and layed the head on the ground. It didn't close its eyes, but it seemed to be sleeping somehow. Beloyum watched him and then got distracted again by the music and the festival. The people started to join in more and more, clapping in tact to the beat of the music. Prestoly and the man kept talking and drinking, while Beloyum watched the dancing and festival. The people seemed really happy. While the people danced through the street, Beloyum watched and smiled a bit. Even though he didn't enjoy it as much as most, Death surely would see the effort and appreaciate it. At least the hazel Kukuri hoped so. His handler and the knight drank through the night, while the people danced and the kukuris cheered and joined in. As the sun rose, Beloyum yawned and got up. Both handlers were drunk and probably half asleep as well. The hazel rook nudged his handler carefully, until he reacted and looked at him. “Seems like we should head home, don't you think so ghost?” Beloyum nod and twitched his ears, looking at the other two. Both didn't move, but they didn't seem any different from before. Just with less motion. Prestoly got up and looked around. The people scattered more into different directions since the sun started to rise. The festival wasn't long from over, but everyone needed a bit of a break after all. His handler got up and stumbled to the side. Beloyum catched his handler, before he could fall to the ground and let him on his back. He did drink far too much, but he socialized, so Beloyum wouldn't grumble about it. He looked at his handler who glanced for a moment back at this drinking companion. But then they started to walk home. The hazel kukuri smiled and took a deep breath the moment they left the festival for good. The air felt so much fresher without all those people around them. “Well, that was a nice night, wasn't it?” Beloyum snarled in agreement and Prestoly chuckled. He still looked very tired and drunk, but better, somehow. They kept on walking and then looked back a last time. Death's statue spread her wings, covered in flowers and colourful trinkets, while the sunshine bathed it and the festival in a calming pink. Beloyum smiled and turned back to his way. Death would surely be pleased, this was a beautiful night and it was just the first week. It would only get better.
Really love how this pic turned out, I was having a lot of fun practicing with my newer foliage brushes. Pic of Vita and my friend’s kuku Harley. More info on the da version.
