If I was a writer for season 2 of the revival I would of had a episode where Dale finds out about Nancy and John Redcorns affair and it goes like this:
Dale: how long has this been going on for???

CW: Traumatic experiences / character backstory / child abuse
I am currently rewatching KOTH and I’ve forgotten how severely traumatized Hank is. It’s no wonder he’s so uncomfortable with physical contact from even his close friends and family. He’s been through a lot of very traumatic experiences throughout his childhood and adulthood.
-He was verbally abused by his father
(I can’t confirm if he was physically abused by Cotton but I assume so? He definitely seems like the type to but I’m not entirely sure)
-Witnessing his mother be dehumanized and used like a doormat
-He got paddled in school
-He’s been forcibly kissed several times as a young teen and an adult
-His old football coach was a total creep with his team
(His coach straight up kissed Bill that one episode they were all reminiscing about their old football days that clip made me sooo uncomfortable)
-A cop took advantage of her power and threatened to arrest Hank if he didn’t let her frisk/grope him
There’s several more instances I’m forgetting but yeah this dude has been through a lot yet has never laid a hand on his family not once. He chose to end the cycle of abuse. Hank Hill is such a well written character, I really hope this reboot does the show Justice. I’m expecting it to be ass considering how many crappy reboots there are now. I wish they would just leave older shows like KOTH, Daria and Scooby doo alone. Reboots are so overdone right now let’s hope they don’t fuck this one up.

Ughghgh I was afraid of this, given the later seasons of KOTH. But it feels...wrong to put Hank in America in 2025. He was an everyman for a time where political polarization wasn't at an all-time high. Making Dale anti-mask during covid feels wrong, too--he was always crazy, but that was in a time before misinformation was rampant.
Idkkkkk. The old seasons are problematic in their own ways, don't get me wrong. But Mike Judge has definitely gotten more... "I'm a centrist making fun of everyone!! Look how crazy these woke white people calling Bobby out for cultural appropriation! The woke left is unreasonable!!" Which, unfortunately, is South Park's calling card (at least they have the balls to make fun of the Trump administration).
I won't judge the whole season until I'm done, although I'm really disappointed in the Connie storyline (I've read spoilers online and all the incels are already calling her representative of all millennial/Gen z women. UGH)

also, i know they did a little tribute for johnathan joss but i dont think thats enough. i really really don't. my heart goes out to tristian and his family, and may we find true justice soon.
