Hyouka short story anthology
Ever since I got that ask months ago about the Hyouka short story “The Long Vacation” I’ve been searching for it. No one online seems to have scans, so I’ve been looking for the magazine where it was published (Shousetsu Yasei Jidai #120) which came out in 2013, so it’s pretty rare. I got so desperate I even looked for it in a Japanese library... ^^; Needless to say I was unsuccessful.
But! Hyouka fans, rejoice! Just last December they released an anthology with ALL the Kotenbu short stories in one volume! No longer must we wander the fringes of the internet, begging for grainy scans from out-of-print volumes, for this book is available HERE to anyone with an Amazon.jp account! It’s available in both print and Kindle form!
This is huge! Reaction gifs can’t convey how excited I am about this. I’ll update you guys again once I’ve been able to acquire it and actually look at it.
Hyouka rewatch, save me.... Save me, Hyouka rewatch...
Just finished bingewatching Hyouka and I loved it. And I do mean ‘love’. All the gifs I used to see about it made it look like some drab school life thing about a boy who’s just so bored and clueless, but it’s more than that. It’s so utterly charming and the mysteries are so cleverly laid out and then carefully unraveled in a way that makes you go “Oh hunh. Okay.” and doesn’t pander or talk down to the viewer. I want to get a copy of the light novel. And the anime as well. Off to look for it now. The ending was just so sweet and it’s definitely a fave.
Not going to change my icon again though. *lol*

A novembre uscirà un nuovo volume della light novel di “Hyouka”.
L’autore Honobu Yonezawa ha annunciato su Twitter che a novembre uscirà un sesto volume della sua serie di romanzi gialli "Kotenbu", meglio conosciuta con il nome "Hyouka". Il nuovo volume sarà una raccolta di storie brevi precedentemente pubblicate solo su rivista, fra le quali "Renpou wa Hareteiru ka?", "Kagami ni wa Utsuranai", "Nagai Kyūjitsu" e "Ima Sara Tsubasa o Iwaretemo".
“Hey, you aren’t going out today either, right?”
I didn’t have any plans, but I wasn’t too happy with how she said ‘either.’ I answered without looking away from the book.
“I’m not thinking of doing anything.”
“I wonder how much distance you’ve covered throughout your entire lifetime.”
“Siblings need to balance each other out.”
After I said this, she replied in a condescending tone.
“So you’re saying you’ve been resting up on my behalf. Aren’t you a kind one.”
