Body and Appearance

1. Describe the character’s height and build. Is he/she heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

She is 6' 2", very strong and muscular. Built like a brick shithouse so to speak. 

2. How old is he/she?

She is 20.

3. Describe his/her posture. Does he/she carry himself well or does he/she slouch?

Kortz sort of stomps about in an aggressive and intimidating manner, slouching a little. Typical orak posture.

4. How is his/her health? Is he/she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

She's very fit and healthy, despite a poor diet as of late. No conditions or illnesses.

5. How does he/she move? Is he/she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

Kortz has a tense way about her, like a predator on the move. She's very guarded.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he/she perceive himself in the mirror?

Most people would not consider her attractive - she has the typical green skin of oraks and jutting lower canines. Her muscular body puts most men off and her scars frighten people. Among her own kind she is fairly average to pretty.

7. Describe his/her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Her skin is a muddled green color, comparable to pond scum, with a criss-crossing of scars all about. She has a large birth mark on her left buttock, a circular splotch of darker green.

8. Describe his/her hair: color, texture, style.

She has thick black hair that she keeps tied back with twine. It goes halfway down her back and there are two small braids in the front.

9. What color are his/her eyes?

Grey.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

She has several visible scars, including two through her left eyebrow. Her lower canines jut out visibly and her left nostril has a nose ring.

11. What are his/her chief tension centers?

Pretty much everywhere. She's like knotted steel by this point.

12. What is the character’s wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he/she have six of the same suit?

She only owns two or three outfits, not including her leather armor. They're all in neutral shades and very cheaply made. 

13. Do his/her clothes fit well? Does he/she seem comfortable in them?

They fit but they aren't the most comfortable clothes. Thin and ragged. 

14. Does he/she dress the same on the job as he/she does in his/her free time? If not, what are the differences?

Yes, though she doesn't have much of a job so to speak. She freelances. 

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

Boxers.

Speech

1. What does this character’s voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

Her voice is very low and quiet. 

2. How does he/she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he/she talk easily, or does he/she hesitate?

Normally she doesn't - she keeps up her "stupid barbarian" look by only communicating in guttural growls and grunts. It also keeps her from revealing her stutter.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

Kortz has a bad stutter and is generally a very poor speaker. She only talks if absolutely necessary and when she does it's very slowly.

4. What language/s does he/she speak, and with how much fluency?

She speaks Ayan - again, poorly. 

5. Does he/she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

No. 

6. Is he/she a good impromptu speaker, or does he/she have to think about his/her words?

She hates speaking and will do most anything to avoid it. To the point where she carries a quartz crystal to show people her name.

7. Is he/she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Very inarticulate.

Mental and Emotional 

1. How intelligent is this character? Is he/she book-smart or street-smart?

Unfortunately Kortz has pretty substandard intelligence and wisdom. She knows enough to hide her true self.

2. Does he/she think on his feet, or does he/she need time to deliberate?

She makes snap decisions - they're usually poor ones. 

3. Describe the character’s thought process. Is he/she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

Kortz follows her gut instinct on most things and has a pretty basic thought process.

4. What kind of education has the character had?

Her mother didn't let her go to school and never tutored her so she never got an education. 

5. What are his/her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he/she interested in learning more about?

Kortz picked up pretty fast on her strengths and learned how to exploit them. She knows how to kill things, protect people, do manual labor. Pretty much anything involving her physical strength. She'd like to learn more about nature.

Introvert

Kortz is actually relatively calm for an orak and a barbarian. A lot of her 'temper' is an act. 

8. How does he/she respond to new people or situations? Is he/she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

Kortz is tense, but curious. Despite her upbringing she is very inquisitive and likes learning new things.

9. Is he/she more likely to act, or to react?

Act.

Fight.

A lot of jokes just fly over her head but she enjoys simple humor, especially pranks.

Minor depression. So far she just keeps telling herself 'that's life, get used to it.'

13. What moments in this character’s life have defined him/her as a person?

Learning of her conception, leaving home, and finding her strengths.

Being forever alone, public speaking. 

15. What are his/her hopes or aspirations?

Most of all she just wants to find a friend or two. 

16. What is something he/she doesn’t want anyone to find out about him/her?

She's very lonely. 

Relationships

1. Describe this character’s relationship with his/her parents.

Kortz's mother is Natalie Gooding and her father was Rash Skolbash. Natalie was raped while travelling too deep in the mountain paths and thus Kortz was born. Kortz never met her father as Rash had absolutely no interest in the children of any of the many women he'd raped. Natalie wanted to be rid of the child but her religious views prevented her from doing so and she was convinced by her priest to keep the child. That didn't make her love Kortz though - to her Kortz was just a daily reminder of her rape. Kortz never felt loved by her mother, though the elderly priest did take pity on her and try to care for her. When she was 16 her mother kicked her out.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

She has many siblings, almost all being rape children as well, but she has never met them and likely never will.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he/she is close? Are there ones he/she can’t stand?

She has three aunts - Sabrina Gooding, Muriel Baldus, and Carol Bergar. Sabrina and Muriel treated her much like her mother did, while Carol treated her like a simpleton and a pity project.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he/she considers part of his family? What are his/her relationships with them?

The only person she was ever close to was Father Sebillius, the local priest. He made sure she was fed and clothed and taught her about forgiveness, kindness, all those sorts of things. Three months after his death Natalie kicked Kortz out of the house.

5.Who is/was the character’s best friend? How did they meet?

Kortz never really had any friends because her mother wouldn't let her play with the other kids.

No

7. Does he/she make friends easily, or does he/she have trouble getting along with people?

She has great difficulty getting along with others. Often she's torn between keeping them away so she can stay safe and wanting to ease her loneliness by making friends.

8. Which does he/she consider more important: family or friends?

Friends - family never did anything for her.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he/she been married more than once?

She's never had a romantic relationship.  

10. Is he/she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?

No

11. Who was his/her first crush? Who is his latest?

The first was when she was about 9 - a tall boy in the village, one of the training monks who was nice to her in the church. When she talked to her mother about it Natalie told her she'd never find a boy to like her because she was an orak. Her most recent was a man she was tasked to bodyguard - a foppish, pretty elf man who was too snooty to even talk to her.

12. What does he/she look for in a romantic partner?

Someone understanding, kind, with nice eyes.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he/she relate to them? If no, does he want any?

No. She would like to have kids but would feel guilty for passing her orc blood down to them.

14. Does he/she have any rivals or enemies?

Actually yes - she made a rival out of another freelancer she met while travelling, an older man named Carter Blackpool. He finds her childish and simple but her youth and strength won her more work than him. She has no real beef with him but he's got a grudge.

15. What is the character’s sexual orientation? Where does he/she fall on the Kinsey scale?

About a 2 I'd say. She is predominately attracted to men but has found beauty in women as well. She identifies as straight though.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?

She'd love to give it a go someday. 

17. What are his/her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?

Honestly she doesn't know her turn ons - she likes people with interesting eyes though. (God help her if she runs into Jonathan.)

Turn offs include snobby behavior, beards, and bad teeth.

Weird bathroom habits? Nah. 

Beliefs 

1. Do you know your character’s astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he/she fit type?

She was born Dec. 30 so she's a Capricorn. Capricorns are supposedly quiet achievers, which fits her. They're also practical, disciplined, and reserved, as well as pessimistic and miserly. She fits everything but miserly.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his/her life?

Kortz is spiritual due to the priest's influence on her. She doesn't know if Aya has a place for her but she likes to think so. 

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

Kortz is generally a good person. She only takes jobs to protect people, not to hurt others. She understands why her mother hates her and why she frieghtens others and has come to accept these things. The orak has a weakness for kids and willingly lets them climb all over her or fight her. 

4. How does he/she regard beliefs that differ from his/hers? Is he/she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?

She is very tolerant of others differences.

5. What prejudices does he/she hold? Are they irrational or does he/she have a good reason for them?

She has no real strong prejudices, though full-blooded orcs make her nervous. She's not eager to ever meet one. 

Daily Life

1. What is the character’s financial situation? Is he/she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?

Kortz scrapes by. Currently she's sleeping in the loft of the local stables, acting as a horse guard and a bouncer for the nearby tavern, The Dragon's Brew Pub.

2. What is his/her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him/her?

She has always been poor and low class. 

3. Where does he/she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his/her home his/her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he/she share it with others?

She is currently travelling and usually stays in inns or the homes of clients who hire her.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he/she spend his money on?

She rarely spends outside of necessary items, though sometimes she'll give a few coppers to the local kids.

5. What does he/she do for a living? Is he/she good at it? Does he/she enjoy it, or would he/she rather be doing something else?

Kortz is a freelance guard/protector and she enjoys the work. She also does manual labor sometimes.

6. What are his/her interests or hobbies? How does he/she spend his free time?

Secretly, she likes to make jewelry. She usually uses leather or cloth scraps, discarded beads, shells, beetle shells, feathers, anything she can find. The rest of her time is usually spent training.

7. What are his/her eating habits? Does he/she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

She eats as often as possible, though if work is slow she sometimes has to skip meals. She drinks rum on occasion.
