#mogma

I have gotten very attached to taking these 2 and putting them in, situations.

I figured it fit bc the Mogma are treasure hunters by nature, which one could argue Linebeck and Jolene both are. The Mogma are also cowardly and shifty, which describes Linebeck to a T.

I've gotten very attached to the designs and wanna draw them doing more things lol

I felt like making designs of the Lomei, and based them on the statues from the Depths in Tears of the Kingdom, since those didn't look like a Zonai. And as I made the first sketches I figured it would be fun if they were the ancestors of both the Mogma and the Subrosians, so I included some of those too to show their size in comparison.

i never really saw anyone talk about it, or maybe i just missed it all somehow? but i am of the FIRM belief that they're the mogma from skyward sword

the statues don't resemble the zonai nor do they resemble any other race present in this, or any other non-skyward sword version of hyrule. wether you think the zonai era of totk displayed a refounding of hyrule or that this is in another timeline completely, it doesn't matter cuz this is zelda and they never give shit to you straight anyway.

my running theory is that the mogma existed in hyrule during the zonai's reign, maybe even aided in excavating the depths and installing the mines? they are a subterranean people afterall. they definitely would have had to have been of enough aid, or been important allies, to the crown for these statues to be built, but they died out, were killed, or fled, either before or during this era's imprisoning war.

this game majorly fucks up the timelines, so i feel like it isn't too far off to say that they could have been lurking under hyrule for centuries, completely unbothered by hyrulean life, because we never got ANY proof that the mogma died out after skyward sword. the parella evolved into the zora, the kikwi evolved into kokiri and koroks, the gorons are relatively unchanged (rip to the lanayru robots tho, unless they were sheikah tech – but that's for another post), but narry a whisper about the mogma.

does this make sense? do i have proof? no, it does not and no, i do not

totk zonai are descendants of skyward sword mogma? They lived in the depths.

Maybe they discovered zonaite, with its weird glowy power, and experimenting with it gave them the ability to make super advanced/magic technology.

Maybe they had ancient records talking about the sky islands from skyward swords era, and decided to move up there after they'd basically gotten all these semi-godlike powers worked out.

eventually evolved to live in the sky more than underground. bigger ears, that sorta thing.
