if you don’t know, kor phaeron is basically a badly spelled Persian word that means blind pharaoh or that is the closest thing that it might be and also it sounds like another word that means blind lion and ALSO it sounds close to a Hungarian word that could mean the age of pharaoh

Erebus is not being selfless or devout here. Not at all. It's a low risk/high reward play; it makes him look extremely devout and selfless, but he knows damn well Lorgar isn't gonna go "blep welp guess I have to carve your hearts out now TSHUK TSHUK TSHUK--"

Erebus is a suck up.

The whole scene--the whole scene--should be interpreted through the lens that each and every character is being insincere.

Erebus and Kor Phaeron are loosely collabing here to manipulate Lorgar, while Lorgar is playing along and manipulating them in turn. Which is such an interesting peek into Lorgar's mind. He seems to almost enjoy having an entirely performative conversation, as if they're all actors in a play. He's enjoying the theater of it all, he enjoys falling into this ✨️Heartbroken Tearful Devout Golden Savior✨️ role with Erebus and Kor Phaeron as his supporting cast.

And you really only see him go mask off when Kor Phaeron reveals he's been withholding info and scheming behind Lorgar's back for years because, well, now he's made Lorgar feel dumb. He's just made Lorgar feel like a fool who doesn't have control over his own legion and that isn't fun. Lorgar drops the ✨️Heartbroken Tearful Devout Golden Savior✨️ act to basically do a "Cut, time out, pause: what the fuck are you talking about?" and in the process he reveals what's really lying behind the mask: an abusive bully, a control freak, a callous egotist.
