im currently rewatching skypea and obsessing over wyper, and as im also obsessed with sabo i wanna share some of my headcanons about them:
id like to think that after skypea's war is settled wyper starts to wonder about other problems and conflicts around the world.
same thing with kohza.
and they both end up traveling in hopes of helping these people, and trying to fight in different islands.
and somehow the end up meeting different people of the revolutionary army. kohza meets koala and wyper meets belo betty.
they discover what the revolutionary army is and they easily decide they want to join in, having understood that the violence and injustice they see is something structural, and being like that, they have to fight it an a wider way.
then they meet each other in the revolutionary academy or whatever?? and they became friends easily, discovering that they both know luffy and his crew.
AND THEN they meet Sabo and they talk with him about luffy and suddenly their chief becames their friend because they know his strange little brother.
like, imagine the utter chaos of that trio becoming friends... kohza and wyper are both really oppinionated and they firmly fight for what they believe in, but kohza is careful and makes plans and studies and wyper is all anger and action and passion... and then we have sabo. totally insane. batshit crazy.
i think it would be a really fun dynamic.

Interlude! I saw this along the way scraping for Miss Merrychristmas panels and it hit me so hard. This is why Momo’s sacrifice of growing up too fast is so sad. It took away his ability to ever make these kinds of friendships, it’s basically Luffy as the only one he’d ever get to have this kind of dynamic with.Â
I like this rumination. Leaders can’t be great unless they can build earnest connections with the people they lead. Feels all too prescient today in so many ways. It’s been a long time since I’ve given Alabasta a proper go, but seeing this made me really appreciate Vivi’s backstory.
