Preview Card for Google HQ/Guide Booklet for The Knowledge Quarter’s Guided Walks
Today was the start of our new brief for our main module which consists of two parts: a preview card and a guide booklet. The preview card should be designed to be sent to a bespoke audience of no more than 100 people as an invitation to the newly constructed Google UK headquarters, so it should be exclusive, personal and something the person who receives it can keep. It should also have a 3D element to it - could be a net for the recipient to make into a 3D object with instructions or could open to a 3D object, as long as it is the right size to be posted through a letterbox. This could also be realised on a digital platform which would be quite interesting but with emphasis on the 3D physical component - I definitely want to look at designing both as I really enjoy digital design.

London’s new Knowledge Quarter in Camden is the coming together of over 35 institutions in King’s Cross, St Pancras, Euston and Bloomsbury that create and disseminate knowledge. From culture and academia to media and technology, organisations involved come from both the private and public sectors. They represent a wide range of disciplines – from universities and museums to libraries and research institutes. The aim is to create and share knowledge through cutting-edge collaborations and new synergies in a marriage of arts and sciences.
While the institutions that make up the Knowledge Quarter represent amazing resources in themselves, the challenge is to ensure that all can make maximum use of knowledge sharing through the bringing together of different skills for collaboration and exchange of ideas. As such, it embodies the ideals of the British Museum – a place where the whole world can meet and tell their stories.
