Hi! I see you're a knitter too. Do you have any advice on how to knit a sweater? Is it difficult? I've only knitted socks, gloves, a hat and a scarf so far but I always wanted to knit a sweater. I just don't know if it's too difficult. The one I wanted to knit has raglan sleeves and I don't know how to do that.
Hey there! Thanks for the question. If you've knitted socks, gloves, etc, a sweater may seem like a huge project. Over the past 30 years, I've knitted a few dozen sweaters and realized that it's basically 4 projects to make one large item. (Back, front, left sleeve, right sleeve) So that's one way to look at it. As for the different stitches and shaping, from what you told me about your items that you've previously knitted - you've got this!
For your first sweater project, I would find a pattern that its simple but fun to do. Avoid an Aran/cable/fisherman's sweater for the moment. You mentioned that the pattern has raglan sleeves - Excellent choice. It is a top down raglan pattern (where you cast on at the neck line and knit your way down)??? If so it's perfect. It avoids the extra seaming that you'll have to do when it's finished knitting. When it comes to patterns, read the pattern thru before you start to get yourself familiar with the direction of the pattern and any new stitches/terminology that you may come across. I'm sure you probably use notebook to keep any notes, because I know from experience mine has become invaluable to me.

Your local yarn store would provide some in person help and most likely has a knit group (or a stitch and bitch group) even your local library may have one too.
