The specialist said that carpal tunnel is like a kinked hose - no amount of therapy is going to fix it, and untreated it's just going to keep getting worse over time. ☹️
Now to wait up to a year or more for my surgery, since I'm considered non-emergant, so I will be continuing to create rather slowly to avoid pain. As I write this my wrist is very unhappy, so it's time to take a break for a while. It didn't like being manipulated and electrocuted by the specialist at the hospital the other day!!!
To clarify, I am still going to be working on projects like my fanfics and Knife Edge, just glacially, and I remain committed to my creative commitments. Rise Up will be starting a massive update (quite a few chapters!) very soon to finish off posting its current story arc (I want to upload chapters today even but my wrist really needs a break,) since I am happy with what I wrote for it a couple of months back after refeading it, then I will let the fic kinda be on hiatus like A Change of Spark is while I just work on shorter stories until I can have my surgery because right now my wrist really doesn't like being a wrist or doing wrist things. Basically during carpal tunnel the sheathe of protective tissue around the nerves which run through your carpus (wrist joint,) are gradually constricted more and more. Surgery gets rid of this constriction and the wrist starts working properly again apparently almost immediately.
I've only ever had outpatient dental surgery before though, so I'll be pretty anxious about this surgery which from my understanding will be outpatient too, but it also might involve me being fully anesthetized, which I am scared of, although I am less scared than I was of it before I went through veterinary training. I know that it is a simple, minimally invasive procedure with low risks which helps, and I know that modern anesthetization is very safe, but I'm still scared so I will be grateful when this is all done with!
