ARLECCHINO
You were close to heaving out a huge sigh and plopping over an empty seat when you heard the bell ring, signalling that there is a customer that entered the bar.
âYes! Welcome to-â you choked even without drinking or eating anythingâwell how could you not when a tall lady entered the premises, her presence as strong as the strongest drink in the house and her eyes as piercing as one of a crowâs. She was striking, far too striking that you barely caught yourself from gawking over her.
Even when she looked rather pissed off.
Maybe something happened over her day?
âU-Uhm, welcome⌠w-what drink would you like?â You stuttered, scolding yourself on the inside as you chewed on your lower lip.
She opened her lips only to close them, gaze observing you ever so carefully. Your voice and breath were caught in your throat, silence so loud that you try your hardest not to squirm under her dark eyes.
All of a sudden, a sweet smile was on her lips.
For a moment, you were enchanted, but only for a moment.
âDo you have any suggestions, perhaps?â
You realized: it didnât fit her at all.
Not as much as the scowl earlier did.
COLUMBINA
Your breathing shallowed as you barely felt anything from your skin, muscles stiff and nose prickling in bolts. Cold. When people warned you about the weather in Snezhnaya, you could never have guessed youâd feel even worse than you already expected. You could barely even utter a complain or even a grunt. Your head spins and you could barely find yourself thinking any coherent thought in mind except for one thing. Warmth.
You did not feel it, but your lips quivered as it slightly parted to sigh a breath out, you only realized you were breathing when you saw the air come out of your mouth.
Then it came.
A voice ever so sweet, like a damsel waiting for the distressed traveler over the land full of pure white snow.
You followed the singing voice without any other thought, body blindly exhilarated and brain enraptured over its beauty and presence.
Like an angel.
You staggered as soon as you reached partly dry land, legs numb and knees buckling over that you failed to catch yourself until your gloved hands fell on the surface, steadying yourself despite your uncooperative muscles.
âYou passed the test.â
Your head shot up immediately as soon as you heard the voiceâthe same voice that you heard not and followed, all belonging to a girl with long dark hair perched over a tree, watching you like a hawk draped on a doveâs clothing.
She smiled, but you could barely see it until you heard her giggle sweetly, hopping and landing ever so gracefully over the ground, a few steps away from you.
You could not find yourself backing away, especially not when she stepped forward and extended her small hand. By now, you could see the smile on her face, and only then did your body finally reacted, a shiver running its way to your spine without any warning.

Summary: You get some company from an old friend at Grannyâs Diner.
It was a nice day despite the debacle with the Snow Queen. You had been working overtime running around the town trying to find a way to help everyone. It became so exhausting that you began to let your temper slip and Snow, Charming, Emma, Regina and Hook decided that you needed a day off fearing that you would burnout when they needed you most.
Unsure of what to do with the extra time, you attempted to sneak into the library and do some research when Belle sent you away to Grannyâs Diner instead. You had been inside for a good hour, listening to stories from Granny or the Dwarves as they wandered in. Eventually your friend, The Knave of Wonderland had popped in for âwhatever had a decent amount of whiskeyâ and took a seat beside you.
âEscaping the rabble with the Snow Queen too, I see.â He assumed and tapped his hands against the counter.
Letting out a sigh, you toyed with the biscuit on the plate and broke off a corner. âMandatory pause, actually. Apparently Iâm on the verge of a burnout or some nonsense.â You explained.
âDid you try Mr. Gold? Doesnât he have a knack for bending the rules when it works in his favour?â
Chuckling, you put the sweet treat in your mouth. âHe barred me from the shop saying âIf you ignore the strict instruction to rest, Iâll turn you into a coat rack, dearieâ. Itâs like the whole town is against me today.â
Granny came by and handed the Knave his drink. He frowned when he noticed the lack of a sweet circle addition.
âWhat no biscuit? I thought we moved past the cookie-tin break in?â
Granny smiled as she moved towards the back room. âIâm still waiting for a replacement.â She said and disappeared behind the door.
The Knave sulked for a few seconds and then reached into his jacket and pulled out a flask to pour the contents into the coffee for an extra kick. Smelling the strong alcohol, you picked up the rest of your biscuit and handed it to the man.
âWe canât both be having a bad day.â You offered.
Taking it, the Knave raised his cup to the air. âTo bad days and strong coffee.â
You mirrored his action and lifted your own to meet his with a soft clink. âTo good friends and biscuits.â
You both took a good sip and gave a satisfied hum. The bell to Grannyâs diner sounded once more and footsteps grew louder until they reached the duo.
âY/n, Iâm glad youâre here.â It was Henry. He appeared almost breathless as if he had been running around.
Setting the teacup down, you gave the boy a warm hug. âItâs always great to see you.â You smiled. âWere you looking for me?â
âI needed your help in finding my mom.â
âEmma? Sheâs down by the harbour I think.â
âNot Emma.â
Your mental visuals transformed into the next maternal figure in the boys life. If Reginaâs son didnât know where she was, then she didnât want to be found.
âHenry, when Reginaâs tucked away in one of her hidden spots itâs usually hard to find and protected by magic.â
âExactly.â Henryâs voice had a optimistic note. âHard - not impossible. You know the locations and I know how upset she is. Between the two of us, we can find her.â
You knew better than to bother Regina when she was in a mood and holed up in one of her hideouts. But you also knew that nothing good came from the woman being left alone.
âA side-quest?â You wondered, lifting your cup and downing the last bit of the coffee. âI can do that. Iâll just wrap up here and meet you outside.â
Henry hugged you tight with a grateful thanks and ran outside.
You stood up and as you picked up your jacket, the Knave frowned, swivelling around in his chair.
âHold on a bloody minute, youâre supposed to be on a day off.â He reminded.
Fasting the buttons, you pointed to his hand. âI gave you my biscuit, I think weâre even.â You winked. âSee you around and stay out of trouble.â
