𝒕here's no room to gasp, no space to catch his breath.

To a PASSERBY it may have seemed a bit AMOROUS. The sight of her CURVY and LUSH and pressing MANICURED CLAWS against the chest of a man MUCH larger than herself. BLEACH DRENCHED whorls of hair catching the dim light like ANGEL GLOW. Pretty face hidden in the curve of a neck a bit too tall, HOT PINK nails guiding his chin up and away. Potentially CLANDESTINE and ROMANTIC for not the SOUNDS. A quieted SPLATTER DRIP of something hitting the pavement, NOISY swallowing, and horrible DESPERATE GASPING breaths that sound VULGAR in the dark.

╭GREEDY SACCHARINE WRETCH╮

The hushed tread of footfalls has her STARTLING, head tipping back with a SLICK sound. Warm honeyed eyes FLASHING in the dark — throwing light BACK like some GLITTERY HELLCAT. Her entire lower jaw and mouth are SMEARED crimson, pouring SYRUPY down the entire front of her body.

Gore damped baby tee skin-tight and HEAVING with her breaths, as though she'd just been RUNNING miles. FUCK. Being CAUGHT was rather high on her list of HATED THINGS, and of course, the man before her was PRETTY.

So we all know that Katherine is extremely good at what she does regarding being on the run from Klaus. This is also played into by both Klaus' own desire to keep the game going AND his inability to always be where she is due to other circumstances. However as we see canonically he has jumped bodies to speed up his get around times with the cunning use of a witch. Who do you think taught Katherine that a witch under your sleeve is a powerful ally?

Until season 5 Katherine's never jumped bodies because she's content with her own and how she can do what she's trying to do in it, how she can control the narrative well with her reputation most times- but Klaus...

Klaus has used body jumping three times on Katerina/Katherine. And each time he treats her like a friend. Whether he was that stranger at the bar she drank with all night asking about her sordid past, giving her an outlet and that intoxicating feel of being HEARD- or simply a polite passerby who accidentally ran into her- Klaus has always left some kind of calling card to unsettle her deeply. To remind her that he could be anywhere at any time as ANYONE. This greatly feeds into Katherine's paranoia and why she's constantly on edge (Which we can assume was the purpose no rest for her ever).

Granted the trade off is that Klaus' body is vulnerable while he's on body vacation so he does it very seldom, his own paranoia and distaste for lack of control coming into play I'm sure (feel free to correct me kiki) so he doesn't do it often. Just three times in history.

Three times Klaus felt she really needed to be humbled.

The first one in the 1500's- around the time she changed her name from Katerina to Katherine. He was a merchant, and he greeted her the exact same way he did when they first met. The same tone, same cadence and the same smirk- it unsettled her so DEEPLY that she dropped everything she had been carrying and ran out of the shop. She promptly changed her name to Katherine Pierce after.

The second time happened in the 1600's, She was out hunting late at night when she came across another vampire who was also hunting. He spoke to her for a short while before he dropped a warning to be careful- she never knows what great evil could be lurking around a full moon. This one didn't hit right away it settled in after. She wasn't sure why it was sticking with her so deeply and then a night or so later her stomach plummeted out of nowhere when the realization kicked in the great evil had been Klaus. The vampire.. had been Klaus.

And the third time was in the 1700's Katherine was shopping in a local market when a man approached her about a scarf he felt she needed to have. He spoke about how it looked unmatched against her skin, pulled her hair off her shoulders to assist her in putting it on. And once it was settled he set his hands on both of her shoulders and whispered " The only thing that would look better around that pretty little neck is the noose you slipped out of 300 years ago little fox." She turned around instantly but he was already gone. This was the ultimate catalyst for her to run to the americas, and what jump started her journey to meeting her soulmate Stefan.

Klaus hadn't done it since, all the way up until the 2nd season when he arrived in mystic falls through Alaric. Perhaps he thought she was sufficiently paranoid for the time being, or perhaps he wanted a lull in activity so that it would be less predictable. Maybe he hadn't had a witch powerful enough on retainer for the time in between. Regardless of his reasoning, he only did it three times. Each time sent her into a spiral that lasted years of heightened paranoia.

Remember, all of Katherine's mind games, all her bad behavior, all her manipulation tactics? She learned from Klaus. To survive Klaus.
