now i love dark comedy movies. dark comedy is so peak when its a medium that is used to make fun of smth rather than laughing at smth and calling it a "joke". dark comedies are ESPECIALLY peak when its got a balance of jokin around and being serious. kkbb is a pretty non-serious movie but its got its fair share of serious parts such as harmony's sister and the ending of the movie. it is SO refreshing to see this plot point regarding violence against women not being treated as some joke. unlike....a lot of movies of its time.

another thing that is also actually represented in a good way is perry's sexuality. typically, gay people are treated as a stereotypical trope to slap in for representation and call it a day. people do still have a problem w perrys representation as his sexuality is still used in jokes BUT thats not the punchline of the joke. the punchline is the stupidity of homophobic and ignorant ppl regarding him being gay!!! hes proud of being gay and using that to his advantage in cases!!! AND hes SO BADASS i LOVE HIM!! shoutout to val kilmer insisting to shane black to make his character gay and doing it so BEAUTIFULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!1!111

whats even better is how this movie was val kilmer's and rdj's jumpstart back into movies!! this was after val's growing reputation of being a difficult actor and rdj's drug problems. this movie was in fact what led to rdj's role as ironman. their chemistry in the movie is so good and is even better outside of it!! they are absolutely hillarious in interviews and FUN FACT: val didnt drink at all during the filming of kkbb to support rdj's recovery!!!! this was also one of michelle monaghan's big break roles and she eventually got cast in mission impossible :3

OH AND THESE THREE ARE SO GOOD TOGETHER AH!! what i absolutely love about these characters is that THEYRE ALL ASSHOLES!!! GIVE ME MORE IMPERFECT CHARACTERS PLS!!!!1 WHAT PISSES ME OFF IN A LOT OF MEDIA IS THAT CHARACTERS ARE WAY TOO PERFECT AND NICE WHEN IN REALITY, HUMANS ARE MUCH MORE GRAY IN THE REAL WORLD!! HARRY IS IGNORANT, PERRY IS AVOIDANT AND HARMONY IS UNRELIABLE. AND I WAS SO GLAD THAT HARRY DIDNT GET TOGETHER WITH HARMONY IN THE END!!! HARRY HAD ALWAYS IMAGINED HARMONY AS THE DREAM GIRL BUT HAD NEVER SEEN HER FOR WHO SHE TRULY IS, IMPERFECT AS HE IS AS WELL!!!

MORE ABOUT BEING REALISTIC IS THAT IM JUST TALKIN BOUT THIS ONE PART SPECIFICALLY WHEN HARRY SHOOTS MR FIRE. HE GENUINELY LOOKS SO TRAUMATIZED DOING THAT BECAUSE HE HAD NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE!! A PET PEEVE I HAVE WITH MOVIES IS HOW THE PERSON WHO HAS NEVER SHOT A GUN BEFORE CAN DO IT PERFECTLY WITH NO TRAUMA ON TAKING A LIFE, NO MATTER HOW BAD THEY WERE. HARRY WAS BREAKING DOWN CRYING TELLING PERRY HE SHOT A GUY AND MY GOD RDJ'S PERFORMANCE WAS PHENOMENAL.

and HARRY AND PERRYS RELATIONSHIP. MY GOD. THEYRE SO GAY. SO SO GAY. perry literally tells him to get outta town before the bad guys show up to protect him and pushes him away as much as possible so he could be safe!! he rushes to help harry hide the body and consoles him over harmony's apparent death. and the end..."harry, youre not a punk.." UHBSDUJAHW??????? HARRY HAD BEEN TOLD HIS WHOLE LIFE HE WOULD AMOUNT TO NOTHING AND THE ONE TIME HE WAS AMOUNTING WAS TO CUT COLIN FARRELL'S PAYCHEQUE AND NOW HES HEARING THIS FR FROM PERRY?? AND PERRY HIRES HIM AT SENTRON??? AHHH

PERRYS RELATIONSHIP W HARMONY IS ALSO SO PEAK!!!!!!! THEY ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN LOOKED DOWN UPON BECAUSE OF THEIR IDENTITIES SO THEY BOND TOGETHER OVER THIS. IN THE END WHEN PERRY TALKS TO HARMONYS DAD, HARMONYS DAD CALLS HIM "BIG TOUGH GUY" SARCASTICALLY WHICH PARALLELS HOW HIS FATHER HAD ABUSED HIM HIMSELF (MOST LIKELY BECAUSE OF HIS SEXUALITY)!11 ORIGINALLY IN THE SCRIPT IT WAS HARRY TALKING TO HARMONYS DAD BUT ITS SO MUCH BETTER HAVING PERRY DO IT BECAUSE ITS LIKE HES STANDING UP FOR HIMSELF AND FOR OTHERS LIKE HARMONY AND JENNA. YES HARRY DID ALSO HAVE A BAD DAD BUT ITS NOT AS INTEGRAL TO HIS CHARACTER UNLIKE PERRY!!!!!!
